considering buying my first infiniti...2004 g35x

just wondering if a good condition 2004 g35x with155000k for $10 grand is a good deal (offered from colleague at work)...i realize that 155k is not a young car...but it's not exactly old either...guess it could last another 5 or so yr with good maintenance....and of course i'd get it fully inspected by a reputable infiniti dealer before parting with my dolleros.

i have read that brakes on this car wear exceptionally fast; and someone recommended ceramic brakes to extend longevity...any other thoughts?

lastly there is another private offer to me for a 2005 model, $14k with 89000km (but $12kish is my limit right now for an awd.)

thanks for any helpful feedback.

The stock brakes wear pretty quickly. One thing is that 03-04 not sure about the 05-06, the brakes heat up pretty severly, so I would get the calipers checked, the rear ones especially seem to seize up if they are not serviced regularly. I would try to offer the guy with the 05 model 12K, only because its half the mileage and the 05 has some better features such as the interior, the body trim (front bumper, rear bumper). The 05 also has the up rev engine with a little more horsepower. I have an 04 rear wheels drive but no complaints. Compression rods seem to be a problem, if you hear a 'clunking noise' in the front, pretty much means that the compression rods are gone.

Just wondering if that's pretty expensive for that calibre of automobile? also somewhere i read of using 'ceramic' brake pads to extend wear? yes, no?

lastly, i read that while the g35 offers fold down seats the g35x doesn't ...so does it still have some sort of a pass thru slot for skis at least?

My sedan seats do not fold down, there is a pass through in the middle enough for skiis. Yes ceramics do last longer and create less dust. The brake service costs the same as any other car as long as you don't go through the dealer.
