Replacing the G37

So, the G37S 6MT isn't such a practical family car (who knew?).

After the 750Li deal fell through though, I'm still leaning toward BMW, but what model? I'm not averse to wrenching on my own cars - it's always been a good way to save some of the hard-earned dough. I really like 5 series size with V8, maybe even keep up the MT spirit since the clutch/gearboxes in those are so much smother than... X5 might be an option but no MT on those from what I can tell.

Whatever I choose, I'd prefer a cash neutral or cash in my pocket deal (priorities you know), so it'll be an older model. We have a 2010 Mazda5 tall wagon for most of the family duties but I need more power for a DD.

Confused as hell.

^that's a tough one.
5 series sounds like a good bet but an MT might be tough to find.

If you're considering an x5, I'd also take a look at the GC-srt8..

99% sure it'll be a BMW - ran them from 87 to 07 and even the older ones are hard to beat. If it has to be AT, it'll need a sport mode. I liked the flappy paddles on the G35 I had before - transformed it from 'oh meh' to 'oh my'. 540iT?

And I'm sure NA cars have come a long way but not on my radar at all. I think my last NA car was my last NA car.

I was looking at a manual transmission white 07 BMW M5 not too long ago.

Boy did I want that car. It was just out of my price range though. Almost got rid of the G for it.

If you can find a MT M5 and afford it, I'd go for that.

how old were you looking to go on the m5?

i have a friend with a meticulously maintained 98 (i think), as he used to work for south center fine cars and now works from his home shop. he only wants $15k.
