I would like to have a discussion (a civil one with actual numbers) that is clear and to the point about 2005 Sedan/Coupe new purchases freight and other charges:

I got this from another member who posted in another thread:

Air Tax $100.00
Freight $1,250.00
Fuel Tax $75.00
Admin $175.00
wheel locks $0.00
gas tank full $20.00
Registration $52.00

Misc Total $1,672.00

I have heard of 3 admin costs so far. $149, $179 and $298 (which includes window etching anti theft.) I called the insurance company RBC and they told me that etching will not lower the cost of yearly insurance. Also the gas tank full charge is pretty wack in my opinion (never seen that charge). Anyone want to chime in on their quotes/costs of these and if there has been any variances?

 

I think most of those items are set.
The ones that will vary ;
- Admin$, dealer set cost
- gas$, bogus nickel & dime charge
- Registration; depends on whether using own plates, or new plates etc.

The only one that is likely to be negotiable is the admin$

I agreed to the $175 Admin, but got them to throw in the wheel locks for free.
They tried on delivery to add back in the window etching as a separate line item, but I noticed and had it removed.
Admin is unique to each dealer.
I also grudging agreed to the $20 gas charge, most dealers just give you a full tank of premium without listing it as a specific charge.
In my case, I factored in the overall deal I got and let them keep a few of the charges as I listed.

Gotta keep the overall picture in mind ! You can bet the dealer has !
