G35 SEDAN - BRAKESS

Just to let you guys know, I have already had to change my front brake pads after 8 months and 20,000 kms. Back pads are about 50% gone. I had a fit at my dealers, they said they would speak to Infiniti, but I am not holding my breath. They charged me just over $200.00 to change the pads, and that is all they changed , just the pads, rotors were fine.

Would love to hear some info on Brembo's, know nothing about them . Pro's , con's Price etc...
Thanks

Re: G35 SEDAN - BRAKESS

Gabman, I've got 11000 km. on mine since June 1st. not sure how worn down they are but going to find out. I really didn't think they'd last long but 20k - that's only 12000 miles. Terrible. $200 sounds a bit steep. What's the breakdown of charges- Labour/parts and did they lubricate the pivot pins and contact points on the callipers?

$120.00 for pads (dealer cost is $88.00) snuck a peak at his computer. Labour was $70.00 - 1 hour, even though it took 20 minutes. Ans yes they did lub everything, they even charged me $8.00 for lubricants. Mind you I have noticed a squeek sometimes which I have to look into, never had that before.

I had a Q45 back in early 90's, ever time I went in for service I was always changing either the front or rear pads.

I got 88,000 kms ( about 55,000 miles ) my my Isuzu trooper on the same set of pads. Mind you the only money I ever put into the Trooper in 3 years was for oil changes.

Anyways with taxes the bill was just over $200.00 , pisses me off that I had to change them so early. If the same thing happens on this set of pads (which I am sure that it will , i will have to find another brand of pads.

We got 8 " of snow , and the G is amazing in it, I put on Toyo observe G02's and they are great. 215 x 60 x 16

Hey Gabman, 8"- that was a fair dump. Are you right in town or burbs? (was a switch coz we only had 2"--yeh the winter's young yet)
Not surprised at your bill of $200 for brakes. What a rip eh?
$120 for pads that last 20k? $70 / hr is enough even if you get a tech that is good. $8 FOR LUBE!!!!! That's rich. They mighta used $.10. What can you do? If I did the job at home I'd only save $78 plus taxes , get dirty, cold, and screw around for 2hrs. at my age > forget it.
Sounds like the factory installed pads on Infinitis/Nissans are all soft. Is that true? I spoke to someone else recently who recommended different pads that were not so soft, which would last longer and produce less dust. The drawback is that they probably wouldn't perform as well as stock pads. Sounds like you can't have your cake ......... as the saying goes.. We'll see what developes.
You must be wondering if there's a fault with the car. I don't know. But what we do know is this: Lots of brake dust > lots of ware, VDC system if activated a lot will affect ware and I think the tendency is to drive a little harder and faster with the G. I know with myself it's hard to resist the 'fun factor'. Just a thought.
Glad the Toyos worked out so well. I'm stuck with the Blizzaks (WS-50's) for 1 or 2 seasons and still experimenting with pressures: 35psi was horrible (squirrelly and unstable)- I'm now at 30 and much improved, but they're way too aggressive for Southern Ont. IMO Probably good up in Timmins where there's some snow on the roads most of the time. I'll get by- just have to be more careful.
Let us know how you make out at Infiniti with the complaint on the pads. Later
