Hey guys
My G has made it out from hibernation.
I picked her up from Truro yesterday late morning and have been busy since. She now has fresh synthetic in the oil pan, trans, diff. and a K&N under the bonnet.
She started right up and didn't have a spec of rust on the rotors or anything. At 7300 km the MT fluid I drained was pristine but the diff was nasty, near black and the magnet was loaded. That is one area I'm going to attend regularly to. I've got my Z tube coming from Texas with my parents and now have to figure out to change the high beam bulbs.
I'll attach a couple of pics showing my car at the storage facility. The guys weren't overly happy about me getting my car out three weeks early and after looking at the pics you'll know why.
In the first pic I'm to the left and behind the red canopy you see. In the second my car is under the black cover and the last pic is safe and sound sleeping at home.
You guys and your meets inspired me to get her back on the road!

Thanks Shane,
It actually seems like the weather is changing too. The sun is peeking out now and it's about +4. Keep our fingers crossed the snow is going and the warmth is taking over.
Too funny driving it after going up in my wifes Sunfire. The G felt like a slot car at first.
Only 21 more sleeps for you now.

Hey Deane, It's a banner day when you get your baby out driving again. Even better than the first sign of flowers in the garden.....
lol.
Is Truro still flooded out from last week's heavy rains and melting? Looked like quite a mess on the news.
I've seen the black mess in the diff. and the metal shavings on the magnet, (at 12k) and think it's a good investment to keep that stuff fresh too.
I'm thinking a change in the spring and one in the fall would suffice, as long as the mileage isn't excessive.
The bulb change is in our DIY forum.... (I don't have the link right now) but it basicly involves removing (or partially removing) the wheel well liners to access the H/L housings. No biggie.
Maybe getting your ride out early is what it takes to change your luck with the weather down there. I hope so.

I want to see everywhere in its early summer splendour by the time I get there.
Colin.

Thanks Ian. you're right it's great. It always feels like a brand new car when you take one out from storage. Mine still has a real new car smell.

Yep, the weather is definitely changing. This is our 3 stellar day in a row here. It's been sunny and 5-7 degrees here for the last 3 days. The weekend's outlook is looking good also. I think spring has sprung!
Yeah, only 21 sleeps left and is going by quickly!

Yep it's a banner day!! Even the weather is cooperating. The sun has been poking through a bit and it's +9 out now. We really don't have too much on the ground now- less than a foot and many bare spots too. That will go fast with a number of good days and some rain which we always get in March /April.
No, where I was in Truro there was no trouble at all with flooding.
I agree with you on the diff fluid. Infiniti doesn't have that scheduled near enough in owners manual.
I found a diy on the bulbs but there of course are no pictures attached so I'll have to figure it out on my own. i haven't yet looked at the wheel well to assess the difficulty.
I'm going out to give her a spring bath now and the first of '05.

I have my second running race of the season this Sunday so hopefully weather holds. A 25km one on a very hilly course. That's the last biggie before I head to run Boston on April 18 along with the other 20,000 people!
You guys can track me live on the web from their site every 5km.
I'll know my bib number in a few weeks.

Cool Deane. I have a close friend (from NFLD) whom runs LD in the 50 yr old class and he has attended some of the big ones too and done well.
Let us know your bib # so we can track you at that time, and the URL to log into if you can get it.
Kudos to anyone who can run more than a mile......lol. That's about my limit.
Walking is another story. I can do that non stop, especially with the 'kids' pulling me along.....
I hope the 'G' weather continues for you guys out there. It's been a long hard winter.

Yeah, the temp was nice today but it was windy so it spoiled a lot of that warm feeling.
Thanks for the compliment.
I'm not positive I'm going Sunday but probably will. I don't want to race it all out with that distance this close to Boston as it takes a lot out of you. I also have a very sore IT band on my right leg from training running downhill with the back of my treadmill jacked up. It simulates the tough Boston course which really hammers your quads early on and makes the later miles extremely painful.
We'll keep you posted.
Good luck with your weather in NB so you can get that hand wash and Zaino job done.

Boston is the most prestigious marathon for any runner since it is the oldest (most heritage) and is the only one in the world outside the Olympics that has a time qualifying standard you have to meet based on age and sex. It took me 7 marathons to get there initially and this will be my 3rd Boston.
If you can walk a long way you would be able to build the ablility to run long too.( if you wanted to
) Kudos to you for doing that. Yes I will definitely let you guys know my bib # and the URL at a later date.
Back to "G"ing.... I think we are going to have a great spring that is a bit overdue and extra fine weather for your passageway to the East. You certainly won't see too many Ms here in Nova Scotia. I spoke to the sales manager at the sister Nissan dealership and I don't think they have moved any 45's yet. He expected the 35x to be the big seller.

Congrats to RBull (Deane) for completing the Boston Marathon in fine time too.
Kudo bro...... I know your not home yet but this will welcome you on your return.
They messed up the coverage on OLN, so I had to follow it thru a search on the B/marathon site.
OLN is scheduled to have a rerun tonight at 8 and again at 12 I believe. If it's on I'll catch site of it then. Apparantly from your data, you started about 3 minutes or so after the official start.
Pace was excellent at 7:49/m.
Once again congrats on the accomplishment. You made us all proud.
Can't wait to hear the details.
Colin.
