OK that's it!

I'm tired of replaceing valve stem caps

That makes 4 times this year, & my car is rarely in public areas!
They seem to disappear in 2s, ...must kids dressing up their bikes.

Guess I'll have finally breakdown & get the locking type.
NE1 know a local source, or are the usual e-bay vendors the best bet?

Also, NE1 have any thoughts that it may be best to let them take them?
vs.
If they get pissed off with locking type, then key the car or something??

weird... i've also now had 5 stolen since i've had my car. my last trip to crappy tire i bought 2 packs from them. so far i've had no problems for the last 2 months *knock on wood*. if it's indeed kids stealing then i wouldn't picture them damaging your car. don't the locking ones just spin around when u try to unscrew them?? i think a kid would just scratch his head and move onto the next car.

Man that sucks Ian. I would hate the thought of knowing some punk kid is messing with my car , even it is just valve caps. Wouldn't you just love to catch them in the act.

Locking type would be ideal but you can never tell what their reaction might be when they can't take them off. I'd be inclined to think they would key the car.

I'd just get the regular ones and hope it doesn't happen again. It's easier and cheaper to replace than losing your car to the bodyshop for a few days and few hundeds. JMHO.

That really sucks Ian. At least they are not messing with something more than your valve stems. I personally haven't had any stolen in the two years I have had my G.

Thanks guys.
In the overall sceme of things it's not a big deal, just a PITA.

I would like to think that kids just looking to "mod" their bikes,
wouldn't resort to inflicting damage;

A-holes that do that sort of thing are bent that way anyway.

hmmm, not sure;
Locking Infiniti logo caps would look nice

I've had mine taken 3 times so far. The second time was in a parking lot at a wedding, and the third time, these kids walked up my driveway and took them as I was cutting the grass in the back.

I saw the locking ones at Oakville Nissan for $45 (I think). They had three types. On the top of the cap is says Infiniti, Nissan or Nismo. I was thinking the same thing as Chico, would they do something to the car if they cannot get it off?

Ian,
for me I have just the plain black plastic caps on. They don't have the bling of other, more expensive hardware, but if taken, are easily and cheaply replaced.
Like you, I would worry about someone breaking the stem off , or doing worse, in an attempt, or failed attempt, to steal the lockable caps.

To me it's only a very small item on a big wheel: hardly noticeable, and totally ignored by whomever wants some 'free' bling for their bikes.

My .02

C.

I still have all of my matched polished OE set. I guess things are safer here in the Maritimes right Shane.
Ian, I have to agree with the others about the potential for greater damage from the clowns who would attempt to steal your caps. I looked at the logo locking ones myself but couldn't part with my money on such a small item.

For what its worth - I'd like to highly reccommend Kun over at Car Beyond Store. I met him through ebay, but have gone back to him repeatedly for his great prices. He's based out of the US, but he ships very quickly, very fast emails and I've yet to run into any problems with customs on his shipments.
