Curbed a Wheel

I was going through the Tim Hortons drive-thru on Saturday, and as I was pulling out I edged a curb that I didn't notice with my front passenger wheel. Needless to say, I wasn't very impressed with myself!!

I put two fairly big scrapes on the wheel....arghhhh!

Ouch!
That's got to hurt.....

How bad?
Just the finish or down to the bone?
It's amazing what they can do to fix them, if you have a good shop in the area.

Unfortunately, it's gouged pretty darn good in both spots....I took more than just the finish off. Maybe this will give me a good reason to upgrade to an 06! Not sure if the wife will agree with it though.

Infiniti will refinish the wheel at most dealerships for $129 (completely restored, tire remounted/balanced). Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Shane, that's a real shame. There are some places around that do good work so hopefully you can find someone. If you can't up there let me know and I'll nose around here for you.
I can relate since I did a bad one to my wife's last car a '99 Acura TL. I pulled out of a parking garage that had high curbs that really were too close to the roadway and the wicket. Or maybe I just misjudged.

Chris is this a policy at all dealerships or which ones are you referring to? Sounds like a reasonable deal.

Shane , I feel for you, I am always so **** about how close I am, yet when I'm driving my Z71 I never worry, I go over the curb lots of the time.

So sorry, it pained me just reading your post.
$129 sounds like a deal. Lucky it was the passangers side so you don't have to look at it all the time.

Shizzle, shizzle, shizzle .Talk about curbing something. I almost drove over my daughter's Honda Civic tonight.
I caved in the top of her front fender for at least 2 feet back with my Z71 4x4 tonight. She parked behind our G but the corner of her car was still behind my truck. I jumped in the truck to run up to the hospital to visit a friend and felt it slow down a bit, looked in my side mirror and shizzle .My bumper was riding over top of her fender.
Dam, I am so pi..ed off right now.

Sorry to hear that Wayne.
That's got to hurt.
I know the air would be pretty blue for a while, if that happened to me.

Thanks Shane & Ian. The top of her front fender is caved in about 6" for almost the length of her front fender, pushed the fender back far enough that she can't open her door. I felt sick, and my dear daughter said, heck it's good you weren't driving the G. It didn't even mark my truck.
We'll find out the damage at the body shop this week. My daughter is an insurance broker so she knows all the good shops around our area.
Shizzle, I feel so bad I munched her car.

Wayne, sorry to hear about your luck with your daughters car. That's a tough one to take. Good luck with the insurance claim and her repairs.

Thanks Deane, I will check some places around here and see what can be done. I will let you know if I can't find any places local that will fix it.
