What are you guys doing? Just curious.

Chico,
To me it's wise and prudent to err on the side of caution. If I were driving the M thru the winter months, I'd be changing wheels right now.... Like you and Wayne said, it's cold at times, and OEM tires on the Sedan and especially the Coupe's 18's and 19's are best in the warm weather, not the cold.
Changing early might mean more wear on the softer, winter rubber, but it will pay of in Spades if you get some snow or a sudden cold snap.
I would suggest to do it now to be safe.

So far Kipling Tire had the best package deal with 4 alloy rims, and 4 Dunlop Sport M3's (225-55-17) @ $1600.00 installed, plus tax. That beat Tireracks price.

Here's the breakdown:
All in USD
4 alloy wheels - $368
4 215/55-17 Dunlop M3's - $536
Shipping - $143.60
Total = $1047.60
Convert to Canadian = $1,233.94CDN
Add GST = $1320.32
Your oder = $1600*1.15 = $1840
Difference between your order and mine = $1840 - 1320.32 = $519.68
So, that leaves me with $519.68 for UPS brokerage fees and any possible duty charges (I don't think there will be any duty as the M3's 'may' be made in US - if so, 10% only equals $125)
Is going up to 225, that much more money???
You can see a pdf of the order specifics at www.akrus.ca/ups_this.pdf.
I also have wipers for my car and my buddy's Marauder on the order, but I didn't include that.

1. the snow in the city (GTA) is not that deep and when it is a couple of times a year I'm inside until it's clear
2. I got the 18" coupe rims and my OEM tire specs are the 235/45/18 and they mounted perfectly on the 8" wide rim
So in the end, I got the OEM more agressive look with the traction needed in the winter. I'll post some pics when installed.
I was going to wait about a week before putting on the winters. So far best price for either the Blizzak LM22 or the Alpin PA2 was $1768 all in (better if I want to pay cash).....17" that is.
I think I'm leaning towards the Blizzak's.
Part of me may consider the Yoko IG10's

C'mon now Chico. We know you just have to have a bit bigger wheels or tires than others.
winter tires
no 20" winter wheels and tires, Chico?
Anyways, with regard to your questions..it all depends on
your driving style, but it might be wise to just put on the
winter rubber now for safety!
take care guys.. i am still recovering from my previous accident

Once again, thanks alot guys.. I really appreciate it...
as Chico might know, my age + an accident really sends
my premium to sky high ...
Now i am trying to get quotes from different companies that
can give me the best quotes.. and i believe I have to leave
state farm, since I don't want them to use this case to charge
me after..while I wanna keep my car the way it is (as opposed
to returning it to pure stock).
I have tried RBC and TD Monnex so far..but they are both very
expensive..anyone got any suggestions?
Best Regards,
Godmans
btw..my car is still at the body shop..
