Look good Albert. Most importantly they look like they will be easy to keep clean during the cold winter months. I have split 5 spoke BSA rims and they are a pain to keep the salt cleaned off during the winter months.

Haha Akrus,

Sorry for robbing the thread.I just love to reminisce I guess. Colin and I love the old big blocks.

Snow set up looks great and so does that shiny black G. Mighty fine.

It's funny, when I was considering rims, my foremost thought was "how easy will that be to keep clean?" I really didn't even care what they looked like as they were only for winter.

Pretty decent wheel for less than $100USD each.

No worries about the thread jack - I just wanted to show the pics, we can go back to talking about the big blocks or whatever. I too, love the old muscle as I've had a few nice machines in the past and they are nice.

My 68 Mustang was such fun, but I wouldn't trade my G in on it ever - I just love the refinement that we now get with horsepower that rivals musclecars of old.

That's cool Albert.

I feel the same way about the G. Not the same raw power but so much more safe, refined, nimble.

Sounds like a great price for a winter setup Arkus. For what it's worth, I went into TO for winter rims and tires for my wife's van. Got what seems like a very good deal. Talked about the G and some rims and tires for next spring. Keeping the original rims for winter.
To make a long story short. The owner, Phil, at Automotive Import Market 905 477 1771 will give any G35driver.com member a discount ( no figure but he said it would be excellent pricing) if they mention the club and ask for the discount.

I went to school with his brother. He's very knowledgable about tires and rims. Often he has stock he wants to move quickly and would prob. be into a group buy. Summer tires anyone? I'm after a set (4) of 18's.

I do recall that the place of origin for the various items were:

tires - Germany

wipers (Valeo) - Japan

So, I think that this was worst case scenario as duty would have been imposed on all items. If I remember correctly, auto parts get assessed 3%, but I might be way off on that. I'll post the bill when I get it (assuming that UPS will fax that to me).

Albert
the mfn tariff on rubber tires is 7%. not sure on the rims or wipers... plus of course the gst.

Sounds like a plan.
When the stealership put my winters on, they said that the front tires were feathered and the rear were done as well. They offered me new rubber (bridgstone) at 450 at tire instead of 7 and change. Nice of them to offer the discount , I thanked them and said I would shop around.
I let the feather issue go because they were nissan not Infiniti.
I'll start looking in Feb.

Yikes Sam, What a 'deal'---- 450 a tire.....
Don't forget to call Jerry Liu if you need a price on tires and rims.
He got my bro a good deal on replacement tires this spring. (Yokahama's)

Thanks Colin,
Come spring I'll do lots of calling to try and get the best price for tires. Jerry is def on my list.
Is there a paraticular tire you (or anyone else ) like for the warmer weather? Don't want to try anything untried for the G. Save a little money and pay for it in grief. Been there, done that.

So... what was the problem with the centering ring on the one wheel? That seemed a bit serious for a mail order purchase.

If it is a defect with the wheel, one would expect the balance might be off.

The centering ring was different from the other three. Slightly smaller in it's inner diameter dimension, as well, it wasn't bevelled as the other three were, on the surface that first touched the hub when installing.

Hopefully, I described this ok, I should have gotten some pics first.

I called Tirerack and they offered to ship out a new one, but I told them not to worry about it as I didn't want to get UPS'd for brokerage fees. I told them that I would just pick one up in town. The rep said he would credit my account for $10 so I could use it for a future purchase, which I think is quite fair.

I haven't bothered to pick up another centering ring as the car is rock solid, with no vibration what so ever.
