That is just sickening!!! Ian, you are so right when you say that it is usually the innocent bystander that pays the price. I really hope these two young punks pay a severe price for taking the life of an innocent person!

Stuff like this just gets me so freakin' angry!

They did release the names / video of the suspects on CTV.ca ... this really IS absolutely unacceptable.

wow... that picture is unbelievable. i just assumed the cabbie died because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt or something like most cabbies... but that scene is just incredible. hope these punks rot in prison for that. good thing there wasn't anyone else in the immediate vicinity. perhaps graduated licensing should be extended to thwart this kind of crap... or have some sort of electric nanny installed by parents. speaking of which... i'm sure these punks would be safer in prison then coming home to their respective parents. if i had a kid that did this i'd probably chop of his...

why is it unacceptable? They did a crime and I think the whole world should know they did this. They weren't victims of sexual assualt.

First off, I'd like to say that my following statements are in no way condoning street racing, making light of the situation or making excuses for this tragic incident.

Being a 38 year old male that has been around cars and motorcycles all my life, I can understand how the two 18 year olds got into this situation. I'm sure that they never intended for things to go wrong - it's just how it ended up. One thing that I think we need to remember, is that none of us were there. We are getting a possibly sensationalized account from the media. I had a friend that was once involved in a horrific car accident that made the papers and I can tell you, it did not occur the way the media portrayed it.

These two kids made a mistake that they will forever remember. They will surely have nightmares and their lives have taken a path that no one, not even their best friend's could have ever predicted. This incident will surely affect everyone that knows them. Not in the same way as the family of the cabby, but affected forever they will be, none the less.

I truly feel sorry for everyone involved, from the family of the cabby, to the two 18 year olds to the men and women of the Toronto Police, Fire and EMS that have to attend these incidents. None of us are perfect and occasionally we make mistakes. I just can't help but feel that we can't convict before knowing all the facts.

Be safe, everyone.

I get so disgusted and angered by the younger generations that just do not think whatsoever before they act. I read about it all the time.....and alot of it on this forum.

Of course they never "intended" for things to go wrong......but if they would of had some common sense in the first place, this tragic accident would not of happened.

One thing is for certain....... an innocent cab driver has died and it was completely avoidable. I agree 100% with Chico, I am ZERO sympathy for these two young guys. My sympathy goes out to the cab driver's family!

This is surely a tragic event and my sympathies are with family and friends of the victim.
I just saw on the National News one guy had a copy of Need For Speed in his car and they are portraying this as a motivator for their racing and reckless driving.

That's sad man.
I remember when I first started driving...racing...you know when you're young, you're stupid and irresponsible and like someone already said, you think you're invincible.
I learned the easy easy easy way...I got my license suspended.
Now...everyone makes fun of me for driving like an old lady...but you know what...who cares.
Trying to get somewhere 5 minutes faster...and you may never get there.

You know what the scariest part of all is?
No matter how safe you try to be...its usually the other people that are being unsafe that will get you in trouble....not you being unsafe.

So sad man...
I bet the kids learned their lesson...they deserve to get in trouble...too bad that this is the only way for kids to learn.
its unfortunate for the cabbie...

I heard this morning on 680 that the family of the two boys are saying why is this getting all this media attention. That they are good kids and made a mistake.

Hello, they killed some one!!

I feel for the family. He was days away from getting his citizenship here and was working here to support his sick mother and family back home. I pray that they all can get through this tough time.

Sometimes riding my bike becomes scary at times. I ride with the flow of traffic on most occasions unless I want a more leisurely ride then I am in the slow lane. The perspective from a bike is amazing watching drivers make stupid and dangerous moves either taking their lives or endangering others and possilby me. I have never seen so many LAZY A$$ drivers in my life not checking their blinds spots, tailgating, improper lane changes, really excessive speed and road rage. I am in no way a perfect driver and certainly nobody is considering some of us may have comittes 1 or 2 of these acts. Its getting ugly out there especially with the yung'uns.

Sometimes I wish that capital punishment was in place for idiot things like this that take an innocent life. If these were my kids and my car, guaranteed I would disown them. Stupidity requires a thought process and certainly their thought process was on that path.

FEED THEM TO THE CANNIBALS AND HEADHUNTERS!!

Manbir, It's a natural reaction for parents to react that way for their kid's safety......
Show them that you understand and love them too....
I'm sure your common sense speaks volumes to them, and that things will work out for you.
