[GTA] Question about insurance claim and repaire

Hi fellow G members, here is my story and questions,

Unfortunately some car run into me last week and made a great damage to my car. We went through collision centre and insurance company to solve this collision.
The adjuster called me and tell me that insurance company will cover all this include car rentle since its not my fault. Further, he gave me a phone number and ask me to go to an assigned bodyshop to fix my car...here is my questions,

1. How come i cant bring my car back to infiniti and fix it there?
2. What kind of issues do i have to look out for with this assigned bodyshop?
3. Can i still ask them if i can bring my car to the dealer and fix it there?
4. Will they put 2nd hand parts into my car? how can i aviod 2nd hand parts?
5. What kind of car can i rent? same level as g35 or civic?
6. Please give me silimlar experience or suggestion, because im not comfortable with this situation.

Thanks for all replys

1. You can take your car to any bodyshop you like. You don't have to take it where he's recommending unless you asked him. The reason why some adjusters do that is because they get a kick-back from the bodyshop to repair the car. In fact you can refuse to take it there and if he gives you a hard time, call his manager or the claims department directly and tell them you want the INFINITI shop of your choice to fix the car and not "Fat Bob's" shop.

2. Don't take it there.

3. Yes

4. Don't take it there.

5. Depends on the policy and "loss of use" clause. Check your policy and see what maximum is. In my case I had a 300C, which was considered the luxury at the car rental co.

6. If you're not comfortable is because the adjuster is up to no good and is trying to take advantage of you. Be firm and tell him you want your car to go to INFINITI. Then you'll know for sure they will use authentic parts and warranty the work even after the claim is settled. If you let the other guy do it, once you pick it up and problems develop later, you'll be hard pressed to get any problems resolved.

He's going to try to tell you that you'll have to pay for towing to the new dealer, this and that. INFINITI will send their own tow truck to get your car and they will bill the insurance company, so there is no out of pocket money from you.

If he did the estimate already, ask him for a copy and then wait for INFINITI to do their own estimate and then compare them.

Good luck.

Subrobo, sorry to hear of the accident.....If it were my ride, I'd like it fixed at an Infiniti shop, and would insist on it. As well, I would insist on OEM parts, not the cheaper knock-offs.
You'll have to check your policy and talk to the insurance agent about the replacement ride....

Best of luck with repairs, let us know how it goes.

C.

Glad to hear things are working out. Remember to be very firm with the insurance adjuster. They try to hardball you into decisions that benefit their company. Don't let them bully you into anything you don't agree with.

I agree. Some will not give you options and only directions on procedures that benefit the company and minimize liability and expense to them.
