Do I need Sand Bags?
Do I need Sand Bags?
Hi I was just wondering if any of the coupe owners here have needed to put sand bags in the truck even with winter tires?
I recently put my winters tires on and during the drive to work today i felt as though the car wasn't too stable in turns where there is moderate snow.
Also i was wondering if it will make a difference if i do? The Tires i have on the car right now are yokohama avs winter v901's

If I'm not mistaken Youngcanuck in Montreal was going to try that. Maybe he has some input.
What pressure have you got the Yokohamas at? It may take some experimenting either up or down from stock. I know the Blizzaks I had on my Sedan didn't like 35psi, but 30 was good by comparison.
I hope the Yokohama's work out well, I've got a set (on Enkei CDR9's) ready to go on my new Coupe on Tuesday.
Grownupz ---- where are you, GTA? Man that dump you guys got today was a real test for those tires. Anyway let me know what you do and I'll do likewise. Those tires are new but supposed to be real good all round for snow, ice, wet, and dry.
Only thing is I haven't had a chance to experiment with pressures yet...........Later

Yupp I did put some (about 240lbs)... But since then.. we have had no real snow falls
(
I can tell you that my Toyo's don't impress me in (pure ice conditions)... I would love to try some LM22's in the future...
Will follow up..with some feedback in our next snow dump.

Ya I live in he GTA and the snow wasn't too bad, but i'm coming from a Talon with all-wheel drive and it does take some getting used to... as for the tires they were really good when the snow conditition wasn't too deep, but i still think i'm going to experiment with adding some weight in the trunk.
I have mine mounted on a set on Enkei RS6's... i liked the look of those more than the CDR9's cause they kinda look like the 350z's track wheels.
But, I think i'm going to go to Home Depot tommorow and throw in a couple bags, I'll let everyone know how it works out.

By the looks here that shouldn't be long. As you've seen on the news Southern Ontario is getting a good dump right now. GTA has had the worst so far 8-12" with more to come. I'm a little farther west in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge and we've only had about 4" (so far). Good luck..........
TripleQ in Waterloo bought some LM22's for his Coupe, You might want to follow up with him on that.
My hopes are riding on Yokohama AV snows (225/50/17) which I'll put to the test soon. Got to be better than the WS50's.
Happy New Year to you , good luck with future 'dumps'

The RS6's are nice too. Mine are more like the stock rims.
I guess your biggest issue is adjusting to rear drive from all wheel. That's not going to be easy..from what I've heard Talon's handle very well. Try to get some idea from the supplier what the best pressure for our cars would be for the Yokohamas. And we can go from there. Like I said b4-- closer to 30 than 35 psi. to start. He'll probably say to stay with stock pressures but I'm sure a little experimenting will help. (Along with the sand)
Let us know.............Later
