depends on the car...what kind is it?
we recently got out of a 4 year lease on a 2001 GTI (about 1.5 years into the lease). I just advertised it in the auto trader for the buyout value i got from VW credit. The person who bought it (I sold it in 3 days) just payed me the buyout for the car, and the entire sale was handled through the VW dealer. The GTI held it's value pretty well, so whether or not you can get out of it early depends on the kind of car you are selling.
