To Spoil her or not to Spoiler

Does anyone like the stock rear wing on the coupe ? Are there any good aftermarket wings that suit the fit and finish of this amazing driving machine?

You'll find that it's almost 50/50 on who likes or dislikes the rear spoiler. I added one to mine aftermarket. ASC in Burnaby, BC sells the TexasDAR www.texasdar.com unit cheaper than you can order for from Texas direct. Their number is 604-435-0381. Good luck!

I personally don't like the stock spoiler, i'd rather keep it without the spoiler than the stock one... But i might be getting one of the aftermarket market one such as the Gialla one or Data System one, still can't choose between the two yet...

Re: To Spoil her or not to Spoiler

this is probably the most split down the middle issue on the G...next to the color issue(Silverstone vs. Black) but I see it like this: I wanted the 6MT and it comes w/the Brembos and the spoiler. I like that this signifies the car is the best G off the lot. The wing - maybe not to everyone's liking design-wise but I have no problem with it at all. IMO It gives the car a Carrera type feel and it saves me from hunting down an aftermarket spoiler which I'll have to give to Infiniti after the lease is up in 4 years. No thanks...I put too much into my other cars but this one is so nice out the box that I really don't want to do that much more to it.

Really curious as to why there are factions of G owners that HATE the stock spoiler. Is there a reason why because hate is really a strong reaction? I really would like a reasonable explanation...aside from the fact that you don't drive stick and were stuck with a wingless 5AT.

Re: To Spoil her or not to Spoiler

Actually i could have get the spoiler with my 5AT, the dealership actually offered my free stock spoiler but i refused and got something else for free instead... I don't necessary hate the spoiler, but i just don't like it! reason being it's too simple, i believe some other ppl describe it as "a tray on a car", and i do like my rear without a spoiler rather than a stock one, i think it looks better... wel, that's just my opinion...

anywayz, if i were really to get a spoiler for my car, i have to get the best looking one, not the plain stock one, not to be rare but i just think the aftermarket just look much better than the stock one with almost the same price paying... why not paying for something that's rare and much much better looking? (wel, my and many other drivers' opinion) Gialla, Data System, Impul all look really nice to me, while not losing the elegant look of the car, it actually enhanced it... the impul one maybe overpriced though...

Wel, i guess it's just ppl's preference to have spoiler or not... but either way, i believe a lot of g35 owners will think some aftermarket spoiler do look better than the stock one, then decide to not to get the stock spoiler and go for the aftermarket spoiler that suit their taste... and that's one of the reason i didn't take the salesman's offer for free spoiler since i will get an aftermarket one anywayz...

Re: To Spoil her or not to Spoiler

Understood. I think some aftermarkets are nicer no doubt...It's just that I wanted the 6MT w/ the Brembos and the stock spoiler came with it so that put an end to having to search for another spoiler. I understand some people's bad perception of the stock's look - but I think they're being a bit overcritical. I like the way it looks in motion and on certain angles and colours of car paint it really helps complete the whole look of the car. Simply put I have no problem with the stock one and think it really symbolizes that you got own a 6MT G. I've seen much uglier/boring spoiler on other cars so it could be worse...

Re: To Spoil her or not to Spoiler

I've got the non spoilered G due to A/T option and at first was disappointed. My Garnet Sedan had the spoiler and I liked it a lot.
I've now lived without the spoiler since Jan. and besides the obvious advantages of less cleaning (no biggie), the so called "clean look" has grown on me now.
LOL, I prolly would have been just a happy with one had it been equipped that way, but since it wasn't, I'm ok with it now.
As far as the spoiler itself, I personally think it add class and looks to the car, I don't think it detracts in any way or is ugly.
Some of the other aftermarket pieces are a little too much for me. They're nice, just not for me.
