do u need to be a rocket scientist to intall tires?

apparanlty u do. had my summer tires put on at active green + ross (eglinton/dixie) about 4 weeks ago. yesterday i was at my godson's 1st communion. when walking back to my car from church... it looked as though my rear tires were different somehow. closer inspection i notice that i have my 225's are on the left-side of the car and my 245's on the right side. unbelievable.

all they could tell me at the shop was that 'sometimes it happens.' i didn't have the energy to argue... told the guy to close my account and our company account... then answered back to him... 'sometimes it happens' with a shrug. stupid goof. got a call from the owner 20 minutes later with an apology and him asking to get back our business back. told him that he should be embarassed over this and that he should hire some employees that are more 'sober' than his current ones. he runs a tire shop and the screwy install they performed is inexcusable. he's also lucky i didn't get any abnormal tire wear during this time. needless to say i will not be returning any business to him.

for those wondering why i haven't noticed it earlier... i have just been extremely busy with my life and have honestly not had the time to even hand wash my car let alone notice the tires mounted wrong. although i do notice that my steering is now lighter than before. so word of warning to u guys... if u get tires mounted by a shop... make sure u double check the install.

first i get rear ended by some jack-a$$ and now my tires are installed wrong... what's next?

Same exact thing happened to me. Luckily I noticed it asap and had them fix it on the spot. I was asking the same question "All you guys do is install tires right? So..."

Ever since then, I have always swapped the tires myself.

lololol, funniest thing i've heard in a while (i feel bad for you since it's ****ed up of them, but still funny it happened) the guys had to be drunk to do that... I've changed/installed atleast 1500 tires in the last 2 years and have never done/seen/heard of anyone ever doing this.

It is kind of funny when you think of it. I'm wondering why you didn't feel something wrong right off the lot though.

My best experience was when honda said they rotated my tires for me while doing an oil change.

I said "what do you mean? it's a staggard setup". He said ya I know we did side to side. Then I replied "the tires are directional".

IDIOT!!

If the tires were installed on one side of the car, that means that possibly (and most likely) they were mounted wrong on the wheels. In your case they should have done and hopefully did, "one right, one left", on each wheel front and rear.

If they overlooked such an obvious and stupid mistake, I wouldn't be surprised if they made all wheels "right" or "left".

"he's also lucky i didn't get any abnormal tire wear during this time.".........

Forget tire wear. If you had an LSD rear differential, you would have put some serious wear and tear on it at highway speeds.

i actually took the car to infiniti and had them check the wheels yesterday after work. they told me that the tire wear was virtually the same on all tires and that they don't see anything unusual. they also couldn't believe that a shop that specializes in rims and tires could make such a mistake.

in truth when i switched to the summers... the only difference i felt was the steering getting a little stiffer. i figured it was normal as they were a lower profile, and i honestly couldn't remember what the car felt like from the summer before. to my surprise, alignment was not affected with the larger tires solely on one side of the car. i do have lsd on my car... but as i mentioned... no apparant damage was made from their mistake (thank g@d).

lately, it just seems to me that the majority of company's out there today just don't give a **** about anything they do anymore. doesn't have to be car related either... just in general.

That's just messed up giddyup. That location has gone through many managers / owners. I believe in the end, it became a corporate store, that just did it for the service.

The last time my brother went there, he was getting an oil change. They cracked the oil pan because they put the wrong plug in. Their solution, we'll just weld it. He said, no I want it replaced. They then said, oh it was cracked when you brought it in. He had to file a claim with the Corporate Office. Guess what, still no response.

Probably about having a cool one later on or about their new girl friend. Certainly couldn't have been about installing tires.
