Overheating

I'm having problems with my carputer overheating (it ends up not wanting to turn on at all, so then I don't have a functioning carputer). I was wondering where you mounted your carputer? I currently have it in the trunk, and I tried putting it in my extra cubby hole above my glove compartment, but haven't successfully gotten it to fit in there.

Also, I noticed when it's in the trunk, it craps out for a couple seconds after I go around a sharp turn at fairly high speed. Anyways, if you could let me know where you mounted yours and if you've had any problems, that would be really helpful. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I'm in socal, where it's hot as *****....so maybe there's really no way around this. I don't know???

Doesn't sound like overheating to me either. I have mine installed in the cubby and my previous one was under my seat....no overheating issues to date. It almost sounds like you may have some loose wires in your setup.

Okay, so I think I've ruled out overheating (it's been quite a bit cooler here recently, and was pretty chilly this morning when my computer didn't work), and I think I've ruled out loose wires (I basically took the computer apart and put it back together making sure everything was connected well).

So I got the computer put back together and tried it out....it worked! Then I tried it again....still worked. And again....same result. Then this morning on my way to work, it wouldn't turn on. I tried turning my car off and back on, and still nothing. Any ideas why a computer might act so unpredictable? Between the day that it worked and yesterday, my car sat in my driveway and didn't move.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would pull out the volt meter and start with testing the shutdown controller/power supply first. See if its getting juice and if it's sending it out to the carputer. This way you can start narrowing down to where the problem is.
