Cleaning inside the wheels?

Have any of you tried cleaning on the back side of the wheels (rims)? Is it worth it? I thought of spraying simple green back there. Any suggestions?

Re: Cleaning inside the wheels?

I get as much as I can with my hand and a terry rag

I have the sedan stock and it is hard to reach but well worth it when I look at the rims.

I CG'd the whole rims and the stuff comes off really easy

Watch how much Simply green you use as it is still a mild acid base product.

Thanks for the info, but what's CG? I don't come into this forum quite often.

Thanks.

A great product. Do a search and tons of info will be at your finger tips. Just follow the "let it dry" procuder and it will come out great.

Re: Cleaning inside the wheels?

I used Eagle 1 Mag Cleaner (make sure you use the right one for your rims, or damage may occur - alloy, polished aluminum, chrome, etc). The nice thing is I just sprayed it on and let it sit for 30 sec, then hosed it off. I had to use a rag for the trouble spots on the outside, but for the inside the spray and hose method worked good for me.

Re: Cleaning inside the wheels?

Being a nutcase about clean wheels, I do clean the inside backs. In fact, doing so cost me a visit to the emergency room a while back from slicing open a knuckle because the brake caliper got in my way and I needed stitches. Sooooo since then I bought a nice brush with a little bit of a curve in it. It reaches way to the back and really helps keep it clean. The curved brush also lets me get behind the wheel spokes. I use wheel cleaner as well, but to get it really clean in back and behind, I find a brush really helps.

Re: Cleaning inside the wheels?

Thanks guys. I guess I wasn't the only one to be bothered by the dirtyness in the back of the rims. I'll try cleaning, but also careful....it gets pretty dangerous on the hands.

What type of brush do you guys use? I suspect it is not a toilet brush.

Re: Cleaning inside the wheels?

It's probably angled like a toilet brush. I'll look around for something like that at PepBoys.

Interesting. Finally got to see the rim from the inside.

Re: Cleaning inside the wheels?

Does anyone know which eagle product (or other product) to use to clean my Nakayama GT-R Phantom Hyper black rims. I want to make sure I get the right product as I would hate to ruin the finish. Thanks.

No helpful suggestions. Here's some stuff that didn't work.
