Scratch on black plastic front end, what to do.

I have a sedan and made the mistake of pulling up to close to a curb when i was parking diagonally. the black rubber/plastic under the front bumper on the right side has a nasty scratch. good news it that it held its shape. but the scratch is pretty bad and rubber is not torn but is very rough now. should I just sandpaper this? Any recommendations. It's not really visible unless you are looking at it. But since its' a brand new car I want to keep it up as much as ai can.

i would try some very fine grit sand paper, at least 1500 or 2000 grit just to be safe, and always do a wet-sand

keep in mind that i've never tried this before on plastic, but this is what i would try

If you are not familiar with wet sanding, go to a detailer.
