3M clear plastic detailer. Use that to "clean" it every so often. Use the 3M clear plastic POLISH every so often as well. You'll notice a slight haze on your lights-- looks like moisture? Use the polish to clean that off, and they'll be crystal clear. The detailer spray is a follow-up to it.

Also, just FYI, get Stoners Invisible Glass to clean off your windows/headlights before you Rain-x them. It's amazing, and MUCH better than windex, etc.

Re: best way to clean headlights

sigh so many products to clean this and that its so confusing on what to use... arghhh im going nuts here...

so for headlights i can use that stone spray and then apply rain-x to it after words? but to make sure its stripped down clean and to be sure theres no previous layers of wax, rainx or lord knows what else is on there, i have to dawn wash the headlights 1st before i apply any of this stuff right? and do i need a microfiber cloth for headlights or can i just use a cotton towel instead?

'Sounds like you have the right idea. I did the dawn wash, then applied rain-x with a soft cloth. I use a little Invisible Glass (glass cleaner by Stoner Solutions) every now and then also.

Re: best way to clean headlights

why not just CG over them while you're doing the rest of the car? it'll give much better protection than RainX!

Re: best way to clean headlights

I just do my lights separately, as sometimes they tend to "haze". I got the 3M clear plastic polish and detailing spray, and I've not looked back. I put Rain-X on them once all is done, but I like to make sure I don't coat them too much so if I need to use a polish, I don't have to go through 10 layers of CG too

Re: best way to clean headlights

i just tried that stoners invisible glass on my windshield and wiped with a microfiber cloth and it left a lot of streaks and haze on my windshield, is it because the dealer prolly put a layer of rain-x or wax on the windshield thats causing this? i thought this stuff was spose to work good, instead it made my windshielf lookin even worse, and if you look close you can see a bunch of fibers stickin on my windshield, please help...

Re: best way to clean headlights

did you not wash your microfibre cloths prior to use? they are not suppose to leave behind any fibres!!

guess your "hand washing" wasn't as good as you thought
go wash them real good!

Re: best way to clean headlights

I have a complete front end clear bra with 3M material that also covers the headlight covers. I still put wax on the 3M material. Headlights look as good as the day I got the car.

with that stoners cleaner, you have to make sure you get all of it off. It's kinda like a polish in a spray form. Apply it and then start wiping it and then use another clean paper towel or towel to kinda buff it out. It takes a little more work but after your done it looks like your windows aren't even there. Just use paper towels for the windows. I found that these work the best for cleaning windows and glass.

Re: best way to clean headlights

Do not use a paper towel on any window tint film you have, it will become "hazy" the paper towel will scratch the tint, will also scratch your paint!

Crumpled-up newspaper is the ultimate window cleaner. The oils in the paper and ink naturally lubricates the blah, blah, blah, blah... I just use microfibers. I swear I have so many of them, I might as well replace the TP in our house.
