Not doing the Zaino madness
Does anyone has a suggestion for a wax that's a non carnuba based product. It's my understanding that carnuba based waxes actually inhibit a gloss on a lighter colored car. I have a Desert Platinum coupe that I've been using Klasse on but I think it could look "wetter" Wetter is better. : )
Any suggestions? Non Zaino as the title of the tread suggests. Thx - C
BTW: This pic is pre-gialla grill - the car looks better now.

Re: Not doing the Zaino madness
zaino is better on light colored cars. however if you insist on not going that route, then the klasse is fine. make sure you are using both AIO and SG. for the wet look, you really need to top w/ a carnuba wax. s100/p21s comes to mind, however from what i've heard, pinnacle souveran paste is supposed to be the shizzle for that poured on paint look.

Why not go Zaino? Althought from all the threads it can sound complicated, it really isn't. It's also much easier to apply and remove than waxes like Meguiars, not to mention the results are amazing.

Re: Not doing the Zaino madness
personally, i'm going to skip the zaino next season and give klasse and pinnacle a shot. i've used zaino for 3 years now, and while the results are impressive, i'm yearning for just a tad more. there are a few other reasons i'm making the switch, but i won't bore you w/ the details.

while I admit zaino is a bit more labor intensive than throwing a coat of wax on the car, you will be amazed. People wouldn't preach so highly about how great it is if the product sucked.
In the past I have had good luck with Meguiars gold class wax. goes on easily and comes off just as easy.
Since I have used Zaino I don't think I would go back.

Re: Not doing the Zaino madness
if you've already got the zaino on there, and just want that "wet" look, throw some carnuba wax on top of it. i currently have aio topped w/ z5/z2 topped w/ s100 wax. it definitely gave my car that extra little "oomph" i was looking for. when the winter blows over, i'll probably switch to klasse just to see what it looks like.
but for that wet look you definitely need the carnuba

cliverman, I know you didn't say it sucked. I was reading between the lines. I sense that your turned off by all the hype over zaino.
"I just don't want to spend time applying six different layers of product" I don't know if you were being sarcastic or if you have a misconception of the product. You don't need to apply six different products. It's only 2. for the first coat, either z-1 or the ZFX and for the second coat z2. You can put multiple coats of Z2 on after that if you want. I have 3 coats of z2 on my G and I am satisifed with the outcome.
Now for the wet look, thats a personal choice. You can get it from carnuba wax but that only lasts about a month at best. To maintain that look you will have to re-apply. Carnuba isn't the easiest stuff to get off. That sounds to me like way more work than Zaino.

actually the carnubas i mentioned are very easy when it comes to application and removal (easier than zaino, imo). if you apply the same zaino philosophies(lesser product), you can achieve some pretty amazing results. w/ just the zaino, dust attraction borders on extreme. w/ carnuba on top, it's much less the case. granted the surface is not as slick, but the look is amazing. but like you said, in the end it's a personal choice.

Some old timer that has owned nothing but Mercedes all his life swears by this product called "Ibiz". any of you know anything about the product?? He said they have a website, I have not checked it out, but it sound like another alternative to an already complicated issue.

shodog,
You were right when you said I was turned off by all the hype.
And yes I was being sarcastic, but you had to put 4 coats of something to be satisfied even if you didn't have to. How 'bout a pic? I think this will have to be one of those try it, like it or hate it things. I may have to try it just to satisfy me curiosity.
