Costco Cotton Towels

Sorry for posting here, but there are only 3 people in the detailing section

I read a post here about the Costco Yellow Microfiber towels being pretty good. What bout the big pack of white towels they have right next to it? The packaging doesn't say if it's 100% cotton or not.

I just went with the yellows. I've used them 4-5 times already and they work great. I use it like a chamois and then use it to dry. I'm not a hardcore detailer but for the price they work great.

I believe the Costco white terry cotton towels are made in Pakistan. If you're a Zaino follower, they say to stay away.

Correct. But I've been meaning to try them for window cleaning. Anyone try?

Oh, they definitely won't scratch glass.

I've had good luck with just using a dry microfiber towel on the inside of my glass. I wait until evening when the glass is not too hot. Preferrable, there's a slight haze of mist on them. I don't use any cleaner at all, maybe another slightly damp towel first and then go over it with a dry one.

Oh, a hint for you microfiber users: don't wash your towels with any cotton. They can pick up lint that will come off the next time you use them.

What's wrong with using a real chamois? I use one that I've had for 5 years and still use it. The initial price may be high, but for as many years as it lasts it pays for itself

+1 with natural chamois. I always liked using them. At the detail shop that I worked at when I was younger (some time in 1998) used them.

I'm not too much of a fan of microfiber, especially the yellow ones from Costco. Seems like there some left over residue on them that leaves some kind of haze. I do, however like using them to apply the wax or polish.

My neighboer gives me these Cotton dressings or something rather that's from the hospital he works at. They're kinda like tacking cloth that auto/body guys use when they prep the car before painting. but quilted I use those to buff the wax off. IMO, They're a hell of a lot better than the microfiber and terry cloths.

I use the yellow microfiber towels from costco to apply wax and to buff... Works great.... I don't use it to dry the car tho, I use a leafblower for that, because I found it to be faster than the chamois I used to use Plus, it works wonders for getting water out of all the tiny nooks and crannies that you can't with a chamois.

I'm not getting any haze, and the cars I use them on are black and twilight blue, so I'd notice.... You sure you aren't washing the microfiber towels with fabric softener? Or drying them with dryer sheets? I think both of those can cause what you are describing...
