Grainy rims?

I need some help. I've neglected my rims and when I went to finally do the job right, I have something I can't seem to remove.

I have Polished Jlines which I normally wash down with the car. I'll then finish detailing with Mothers and a coat of wax. I broke down this winter and took it to my local car wash to be washed offline more than a few times. No comments, I'm feeling bad enough as it is.

My right front rim seems to have grains of salt sized metal embedded on it. I tried my normal things and it didn't work. (Maybe I just don't have the strength to get in there to remove it)? Is there something that I could do on my own to fix it? Help!

Try a claybar with lots of lube to get the embedded contaminants out

Thanks for the quick response!
I wasn't aware I could use claybar on my rims too.
Perfect.

I refuse to believe it's pitting.
I'll find out this weekend.

Can you take some pictures of this? Does this look like contamination stuck to the wheel or has something etched in to the surface? Are the marks above, flush or below the surface of the rest of the wheel? If you can provide a little more information about the situation I might have a more informed recommendation. Hopefully we can give you some recommendations to fix the problem. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you get rid of these marks.
