What is that gook on the climate control???
A while back I purchased my G35 at an auction. I noticed when I got the car that there appeared to be a smudge or two on the climate control plastic window. I figured, "easy enough, I'll just use some windex, clean it up, and make it streak free." Not quite so. Apparently there is a film, or something to that effect, on the plastic that makes everything smudge. Now I have more smudges than when I started. My question is this, what type of cleaner or method should I use to clean this damn climate control window. Its so silly but nothing seems to work.

This is gonna sound really strange, but I bought one of those pre-soaked Armor-All pads at a self serve carwash and got some on the Climate Control screen by accident and all my gook is gone...
Now I don't know why or how, but my climate control screen looks brand new. If I try to clean it with Windex, etc, it looks like crap again. I put a new coating of the Armor-All on and it is gorgeous again. Another thing that MAY work is spraying a little Pledge furniture polish on a cotton swab, although I have not tried that yet...Remember, Pledge is essentially wax and may fill in any imperfections or scratches on plastic. My buddy's and I used to detail our crotch rockets with Pledge all the time, it is quite amazing actually!

You might want to try lens cleaner with a microfiber cloth. that stuff is safe enough to use on the coatings of eye glasses, it should be good enough to use on the interior. I just used it to clean some sneeze marks off my insturment cluster and the results were impressive (no swirl marks left, etc).

I had great results using a chrome polish (I believe it was Mothers)... made it look brand new.
Oh, and if anyone ever point to it and touches it to ask whats that, I hit the eject button on their seat.
