The WINTER is killing my car! help light scratches
Everytime it snows and I remove the snow....usually by hand or broom. I find more scratches on my car. There building up. They are light scratches on the hood, the spoiler, the roof. Is there anything i can do...buff them out. Touch up paint? I can't afford a new paint job after dishing out 1700 on blizzaks. HELP!! please

They don't look like broom scratches. But now that I DOOOO have these scratches. How do I get rid of them.
p.s. removing snow with the hands causes numbness

you are not the first person who felt obligated to clean the snow/ice off your car...problem is, if the layer ontop of your paint is frozen or crystalized, its like dragging sand along your finish!!!!! I know I already did this on another car some time ago...
As far as removing the scratches...be careful...how deep are they? if there just light you can take them out carefully with a super fine polish/wax go diagonally against the scratch and take your time...follow up with a good quality wax...and next time leave the snow alone!!!! the second you warm your car up the stuff will eventually just slide right off...20ld4this

Bring your car to a professional detailing shop to help you remove those scratches. Swirl marks and surface scratches can only be permanently removed by someone (generally a detailing technician) w/ experience / training to use machinery and proper chemicals for exterior / interior detailing.

Living in upstate NY light scratches caused by snow brooms and road salt are a fact of life.
To combat this without paying a detailer evedy spring, I plan to order the polishing kit from Griot's Garage (I'll probably get the pnuematic version).

If you use a snow brush, make sure you have one that has 'feathered' tip bristles. I do the 'wrist test'- take the brush and brush the inside of your wrist. If it hurts, it'll scratch up the paint on your car.
Mallory makes a couple of models with feathered bristles. Price is not the most important factor as I got the Mallory Sno-Wisp for $5 and their $20 model has the bristles that will rub your skin raw!
