Re: Water Blade scares me
I had a filter on my hose water at my old house, and I used the waterblade all the time. Now, in Vegas...? The water has freakin' pebbles in it because it's so hard. THAT, though dumb, scares me. I suppose you could say that's the "screaching sound of quality"

Hah, are you kidding? After a week, I went to Wallgreen's and bought a gallon of lotion, aloe-infused tissues, and all the lip-balm I could carry. I felt like such a perv. I told the cashier "It's really dry here," and she still gave me that weird look.

Re: Water Blade scares me
I've been using the water blade of about 5 years now, not one scratch, or mark from it, and the water here is probably just as bad as it is in Vegas!! We have some old volcanoes nearby!

Or as they say, Squeaky Clean, yeah, it makes that sound, but I have never gotten one scratch or scuff or swirl mark from using mine, just make sure you keep it clean!

Unless you keep you car freshly waxed, water blade will scratch, ever so slightly your clearcoat surfaces. If you have a dark colored car you'll notice it in direct sunlight

Negative, I have been using mine since 98, never got a scratch of any kind from it, and the first vehicle I used it on was a Torreador red F-150, very dark color, if you got a scratch, it must have had some dirt on it, I always rinse mine off before using!

Works great when clean and on a clean car. Never use it to dry off after a rain as you don't know what else fell on your car.

Re: Water Blade scares me
Water Blade is great IF (and this is a very big if) your surface is completely clean from any kinda of dust/dirt ect. I beleive that the plastic blade itself will not scratch. But if even a tiny amount of dirt is present on the car, you will get a nice long scratch.
Even little dirt particles from a gust of wind can cause these types of scratches.
Personally i opt for Microfiber towels. Even if there is some small dirt particle on the surface, most likely the towel will grab it and keep it away from the paint.
Its true the blade saves you time (thus i use it all the time to wipe my windows), but if you are washing your car outside, or have a dark color car, its not a good idea. The risk of having dirt on the paint is too great.

The same applies to anything you are using to dry your car, even a towel or a chamois.

"The same applies to anything you are using to dry your car, even a towel or a chamois."
the difference is that a microfiber towel or cotton towel is more likely to 'grab' the dirt without scratching the paint. in the case of the water blade, the dirt will be pinned between the paint and the blade, thus causing a scratch. i had the same problems with chamois also.
