Well, as the title reads, how do you guys clean your Cali dusters? After a few wipes, the duster is all black...

 

Beat it to loosen the dust, possibly soak gently in lukewarm water. The problem is that anything harsh will remove the paraffin wax as well

 

i googled it because mine is in need for a good cleaning and threw away the instructions. some people say a mild detergent like woolite and cold water. hot water and agressive detergents like dishsoap can strip that paraffin wax. if it doesn't work, i'll just get another one since they're only like 20 bucks and last for a couple of years without washing.

 

I just used to give it a good shake after each use, I just got another one, when it looked a bit grubby..

 

my duster is pretty filthy looking since ive been using mine since 98.
works great. kinda like motor oil, just because it is black does not mean
it's properties are worn out.

i tried washing my old interior cal duster a while back...that's the last time
im going to do that.. paffrin does not seem to settle the same way it was
before the wash. if your duster is so dirty that it's leaving behind dust,
just get a new one.

Thanks , I was just concerned that the dirt on the duster will end up scratching the car.

 

The package says they work better when dirty.

I just shake mine out before and after each use to get anything solid out of there.

 

wait so do you use the cali duster just to lift the dust off your car inbetween washes?! omg that thing would be amazing if it works! i feel so out of the loop since i dont have one lol...where can i get one? online? or any stores sell them?

JMO, but the best way is to toss it in the round bin!

MF & QD is the only way to dust IMO.

I agree,, when I was shown the abilities and results of the micro fiber towels and quick detailers my 2 Cali dusters were deep sixed.

 

any auto parts store or wally world has them. if you use it for light dusting it will be a while until it gets filthy. afterall, it's a duster, not a washer. i think you use less pressure on the paint surface than what you would use with a MF towel and QD.
