I just picked up some Meguiar's Deep Crystal® Car Wash and NXT Generation Tech Wax. Does it really matter that I bought the Deep Crystal wash instead of the NXT? I work at Lowe's and we carry Meguiar's products. I have a bunch of $10 off coupons so all of this stuff is free!

How do I go about prepping the car for waxing? Does this sound right? Do I need to do anything in a different order?

1. Wash with Simple Green to remove all the dirt/grime and any existing wax
2. Go over with Meguiar's Smooth Surface™ Clay Kit
3. Wash with Deep Crystal
4. Then use Scratch X on a few places
5. Apply Deep Crystal® System Polish
6. Wax with the NXT

Crystal wash is a car wash, so no problems there, nxt is slightly better but not significantly. Do not wash your car with simple green, that is way to harsh and not necessary at all. Wash with deep crystal using 2 bucket method, clay, scratch-x, polish, then nxt.

 

Using the clay will remove any impurities. Don't use the Simple Green.
