First Wax... Any Tips?

My car is about 2 Months old now and I would like to give it a nice wax.
Any advice on what others use for wax, clothes, etc. ?
Thanks.

Clothes, etc.? Are you serious? (Edit) If you are, do as the others have suggested. If you want to keep it looking nice, do NOT take it through an automatic carwash. If you must, take it through ONLY touchless washes. Otherwise, use lambskin wash mitts to wash and microfiber towels to dry. As far as a good over the counter wax, I would recommend Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. I would also suggest the new Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer to remove very light dust between washings.

I used Klasse All in One acrylic sealer for the base and then applied P21S carnuba wax over that. I also clay barred first before the Klass, but it didn't pick up much. Take a look in the Care and Detailing forum. Plenty of tips there.

yup,

sheepskin washmit, a good auto wash, clean bucket, a chamois or micofiber towel to dry. . .

clean heyrreally well. . . I'd most def invest in a clay bar/detailer spray kit.. .

clay bar if its your first wax, then

wax or use sealant. . .

Meguires has treated me well. . . people get pretty invloved with brand . .
just dont get anything dirt cheap. . .its your car spend a little. . .turtle wax also sucks. . .

i dunno what else

I like Calpolytlo's idea

1. wash
2. clay
3. cleaner/polish wax
4. 2 coats of wax

Meguiar's sounds like a good company

The Turtle Ice wax is pretty good. Btw., I'm noticing that I'm getting a lot of those thin swirl scratches on the G now . Whenever I park in the sun I see them almost everywhere and it annoys me so much. What's a good technique to get rid of them besides going to a pro. detailer?

Advice...

remove all jewelry and don't wear a belt. My wife thinks it is funny I won't wax the car with my wedding band on, but I'm afraid of scratches.

I used 2 coats of Klasse SG, followed a week later by Natty's Blue. I do another coat of Natty's every month.

Every six months, I use Klasse AIO and repeat the above cycle.

You can try by hand using a product like ScratchX or Zaino Z-AIO. If you want a proper job done, I would give Kevin (Picus112) a call as he is a professional detailer in your area.

Swirl marks on the G are inevitable, get use to it.

Why not? I compounded my entire 07 G just a few months after I purchased it. I would of done it sooner, but the weather was cold.

Nothing wrong with polishing a brand new car.

Wash, Dry
Clay (1-2times a year)
Polish (Paint Cleaning)
Sealant (Protection)
Wax (optional, for added depth/gloss)

If you haven't polished the car before, I always recommend having it detailed by a pro, then maintain it from there.

To prevent any damage to the paint, make sure you always use a clean MF towel. If it drops, get another one.

I'd recommend a sealant as well in addition to the wax.
