refer to the detailing guides in this section. do it when necessary. like if water spots start to appear or swirl marks. just keep it clean and have layers or sealant or wax to protect the paint.

I don't think there is an exact number of times your G will need detailed in the run of a year. I think it will mostly depend on your washing habits and what type of products you use to detail your G. I do a full detail on my G about 4 times a year (once every quarter).

If it were me, I would NOT take my G to a car wash. If it's a car wash that touches your paint, you are just asking for a ton of swirl marks. If it's a touchless car wash, they use strong detergents and any protection you have on your G will be removed that much more quickly. Nothing beats a handwash that is properly done.

You said that you really want to put the effort into taking care of your G, but then said you don't have time to wash it. You really don't have enough time (about 20 mins) to wash a car?

In any case, it sounds like you are a perfect candidate for a good sealant. A wax will typically last anywhere from 2-8 weeks, while a good sealant will last 3-6 months. Get yourself some microfiber towels and a good sealant like Zaino Z2/Z5, Poorboys EX-P, or Menzerna's FMJ.

Basically if you want the paint surface of your G to remain protected from the elements and have a great shine, it's gonna take some time and effort. I would highly suggest you read through the two threads that are stickied at the top of this section........they both will provide you with a wealth of knowledge.

Good luck.

If you run it through a "touch" car wash, you will develop hideous swirls and marring. Can you do it? Sure. Should you do it? Nope. By the way, those swirls and marring will show up quickly. Thus, if you get your car detailed every six months, your car will likely end up looking like crap for 8-10 months of the year. Not something I would do. However, I suggest using something over the counter, like Meguiar's NXT wax, and then getting something simple to use, like Duragloss AquaWax and spraying and wiping that on every few weeks after you wash the car. That way, you can go through touchless washes when you can't wash it by hand.

I just polished my car for the 1st time. I went to town and spent a ton of hours getting it the best I can. To avoid having to go though this ordeal again anytime soon, I plan to wash/dry properly and to make sure there's a layer of Optimium wax (only take 15 min) on the car.

But in reality, I going to assume the car will need a very light polish (blue/white w/ Optimum Poli-seal) probably once a year. Hopefully that will allow me to avoid having to do any serious polishing again.

It only takes 20 min to wash/dry your car (as said). If you are that lazy, take it to a professional hand washing place and spend the $. Or at least have it polished/sealed once a year.
