Proposed full detail/wash routine, and question on scratch/chip

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a UDM and am looking at stepping up my game on my details.

Car is an 06 LP coupe. Some swirl marks and water spots from letting others wash her for the first year And two particularly annoying blemishes (more on that later). I currently wash it myself, at a minimum of once every two weeks. 4*UPP sealant every 2-3 months.

I've built out my detailing/wash routine bash on current experience and the info gathered here, special shouts to george and picus

So here we go:

Twice a year, Full detail.
Paint cleaning consisting of:
Wash (Meg's)
Dry
Clay
Compound (as needed, i do have a few good cc scratches) Menzerna PG
isa:h20 wipe
Cutting Menzerna IP
isa:h20 wipe
Polish Menzerna FPII
isa:h20 wipe
Finishing Menzerna PO106ff?
isa:h20 wipe?
Sealant 4* UPP

Weekly/bimonthly which ever
wash megs
dry
spray sealant? such a thing? Just go with a spray wax?

That sound about right for paint care? And just out of curiosity, can you machine wash a sheepskin mitt? I've been buying em everytime at the local shop and tossing them as i can't seem to get them clean enough in bucket o water washing that i trust using it again. Plus the insert portion of it gets hard as a rock.

And well, two, painful, but important caveats. Some damage i took on the highway. Is it safe to do the full detail with this? I have the factory paint and i may take a stab at fixing them, but wet sanding does scare me... and i'm not sure if you have to reclear this stuff or not...

Rock flew out of a truck and made a chip to the bare metal on the brow of the poor girl.. have to fix this before the cancer spreads :/

Another rock, scratched the hood to the primer... is this fixable with factory touch up paint?
Close up:

Some perspective on the size. That smudge is the scratches...

Am i good to go?

You don't really need to use both FPII and PO106FF, just get the PO106FF, IP and PG also may not both be needed. As for a spray sealant, I personally use and recommend Duragloss Aquawax, one of the favorites on autopia.org, and probably the BBFTB spray sealant out there

I do have some visible scratches, in the clear, that i was getting the PG for just in case. I may leave off FPII then. I saw the Duragloss on autopia, and here for that matter, but wasn't sure if that was a good idea to put over 4* UPP. Guess i'll give it a shot.

As far as the chip/hood scratches... if i don't have it repaired before hitting over it with the buffer, with that screw it up more?

It looks like you have a good plan in place to detail your vehicle Glycerine.

Redlude was right, PO106FF would replace the FPII as it has slightly more cutting ability and finishes down finer than FPII.

I would also try an area with IP before jumping into the PG. With the proper techniques, IP (or SIP) can remove a good amount of imperfections.

You want to avoid machine washing sheepskin wash mitts as it will definitely lower the durability and can potentially separate the natural fibers from the mitt. Wash mitts shouldn't get that dirty when used properly. After every panel or so you should be rinsing the mitt in your rinse bucket (using the 2 bucket wash system) to release the contamination. When you are done, simply use free flowing water from the hose to give your mitt a final rinse down. Hang dry for maximum durability.

You can detail with those scrapes in the paint, but you want to avoid working the buffer near them. You potentially could pick up some contamination or even worse put a tear in your pad.

I think this covers most of your questions. You have put together a solid group of products to detail your vehicle with. I love the Menzerna polishes and properly prepping your paint is what gives you the best finish.

If you have any other questions I can help you with please do not hesitate to ask.

Keep us posted on how the detail turns out for you.

George

Thanks for the tips guys, took your suggestions and put in my order. George (amongst others) now has a good bit of my cash Tho i did find out my local NAPA doesn't carry the aquawax spray

May wait a week or two to get started as i smacked one of my sideviews on the tiny entrance to my garage. Got a new one in and probably have to get it painted. I may get those two blemishes fixed while i'm at it.

I did go run down to lowes and picked up some portable halogens for lighting and almost immediately wished i hadn't... the swirl marks don't look that bad in daylight
