As do I, Woolite is used because it is a very gentle detergent, but others have had success with other detergents, preferably types without a strong fragance. Detergent is not harmful to towel life at all, and the hottest temperature setting should be used, hot water cannot reach a temperature high enough to harm the towels. Vinegar is used because it is an acid which affects the pH of the rinse, and releases more of the detergent from the towels during the rinse cycle.

I buy all of mine from walmart, being a natural product, the quality of the mitts will vary quite a bit. I've had a few that lasted 3-4 washes, and some that are going on 6+ months and are still in good condition. You have to inspect each individual mitt, I pick the ones with the thickest/heaviest coating and the softest ones I can find. Usually there are only 1-2 good ones in each batch, so I have to periodically stop by to replenish my supply. I keep 2-3 new ones on standby, and recycle through 3-4 wash mitts and 1-2 wheel mitts. When the wash mitts get dirty, they get downgraded to wheel/undercarriage duty.

that's funny. I do the same type of downgrading with all my towels (MF or not) to wheel and undercarriage. Loving my car AND having the OB coupe naturally makes me wash my car more than usual, but redlude what's your excuse!???

what brand do you use? i cant recall the brand i used. but seriously though, i had a hole in the mitt after 10 mins into washing. the inside material started to peel after another 10 mins into washing. the mitt had another hole, this time bigger, 5 mins into washing. so i took that damn thing off and washed the rest of my car as if it's a wash cloth. i wasnt going to use it for the wheels/under carriage, but since it was all messed up, i said "f it" lol

yeah, i do the same: after 4-5 washes every thing goes down to the wheels, whether it'd be MF dry cloth/shamuss (sp?)/MF mitts/sponges

Well I use woolite because I have some left in the bottle that I didn't use for cleaning the leather and I use vinegar ? because I read on autopia that you use it as a "fabric softer" to softing up the MF at the final rinse.

i usually just use the "natural" or whatever it is detergent... the kind that's for people with allergies.... it has no dyes or fragrances or softener in it

also, anybody use these (or their less-expensive counterpart from target or costco) : http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....1001&SKU=10268 ?

i wash my MF towels, mitts in the wash using ALL detergent with
no fragrances or softeners.

i rinse my mitt with a hose though to minimize soil/grit in the wash.

afterwards, just hang dry (air dry).

i use the platinum and glass towels from: www.detailersparadise.com
and the MF wash mitt from: www.griotsgarage.com
