I've been keyed twice in the 3 months I've owned my car, but luckily each time wasn't terribly malicious and didn't go through the clear coat. However, the placement each time (2 feet long on the hood and a foot and a half long mid-passenger door panel) suggested it was no accident.

The weirdest thing about it is I've only been in this area a short while and certainly don't have any personal beef with anyone. Also, I make it a point not to park next to people unless I have to at work, and then I park in an end spot hugging a line, but never over it. Also, I NEVER back into a spot - if you do you're just asking for it.

If I parked like the a**hole who owns the M3 in my lot and always takes up two spots, I would expect to get keyed. Yet, he parks in the same spot(s) every single day, and no one does a thing - not even the parking enforcement. One of these days I'm gonna get to work at 7:30 AM to beat him to his spot... but then he'd probably key me

My car got broken into, keyed, and hit all within two weeks of each other. I actually finally just filed a claim with Geico and got it back from the body shop today.

I got keyed (down to metal) from the rear panel all the way upto the driver's side door. I also got him on the stoneguard and had a few minor dents; to fix all that would have cost me about 700.00. I only ended up paying my deductible, which was 200.00.

On the side not I did have them fix my front bumper. Which was all jacked up and that cost me 500.00

Advice

I find myself to be in a similar situation as you, Im in highschool, also 17 with a g35. Its obviously one of the best cars in the school (that a student actually purchased himself).

But the best thing you can do to protect your car is definately adjust your personality to your car.

Yes its a g35, Yes ALOT of students love the car, YES YOUR ENEMIES SEE IT AS A WEAK SPOT.

Dont be an *** to anyone and put down anyone elses car (no matter how crappy).

Im sure your school has a student parking lot with a security guard. Make friends with the security guard and park near him. In SO.Cal, im sure that Every school has cameras. Park in plain view of the Cameras so if you do get vandalized, there is evidence.

Good luck with your G. I Find myself in your same sit. and i have yet to be keyed (god i hope i didnt just jynx myself)

Yea, I'm 17 and am looking to get a G to build. I am a Junior in HS and I am pondering whether I should get a G or not. Although I would park in the teachers lot. Deffinately not the kids. I respect people shiet but there are only few of us kids who do. Thats why we pay for our own stuff. My uncles Acura got keyed from front to back on each side and had messages carved out in his hood. I believe he would win the "sad" competition if I had pictures. But I dont have any since it was 2.5 years ago. So Congrats on the win! lol
Thanks Guys!

Ohh yea, if you dont mind me asking. How much is you Insurance and who is your company. I am just wondering since this could keep me from getting my G. I placed a call into some places around me and got no response yet except for one with $4000 per year :/ . Anyone under 18 please.
Thanks!

Dang I live near Potomac, and that's pretty scary. Worst I've had happen was two months after I bought my car somebody tried stealing it and jacked off the driver side keyhole cover and dented the metal. Then a couple weeks later some ran into it in a parking lot and left. Had to replace the rear bumper. This was in a school parking lot though. I'm hoping I have better luck when I buy another G35 this next spring.
