Swirl Marks/scratches!!!

Ok, so i picked up my '08 g35s on saturday, and it hasnt been washed since... i was standing outside Burger king last night having a smoke (at night) and the parking lot lights were shining on the hood. well to make a long story short, there are hairline swirl scratches ALL OVER the car! is that normal for a brand new car? shouldnt the paint be crystal clear? I need advise before i freak out at the dealer... any help would be great.

they probably put it through an automatic car wash with brushes, you should definitely take it up with the dealer...a brand new car should not have swirl marks.

btw - i think you might have gotten a little click happy when you created this thread, you started 5 identical threads

You will always see those what you call scratches in the parking lot lights, nothing you can do about those. Sure, it's a brand new car, but it's probably been washed a couple of times before you got it. Sheesh, you need to worry about real stuff! That's totally normal!

It was probably caused by the Dealer cleaning and prepping it, that is why a lot of us will not let our Dealer wash our cars when they are serviced.

Wayne, this has nothing to do with how it's washed, the "swirls" he's talking about are totally normal on a car, only time you see these is under those bright halogen lights in a parking lot, I bet you will even see them on your car.

Don't be, it will look fine, that is not a sign of mistreatment. And the bright sun will also reflect these, especially on a black or other dark color.
