How can I bring my pillars back to life??

Ok, so I had put on those stick on chrome pillars and decided to take them off. I have only done one side so far, but the OEM plastic that was underneath the chrome pillars is all jacked up. It has gooey recidue (more like stains than actual recidue) that I cant seem to get off, plus it looks like i scratched it some when trying to take off the glue left behind by the pillar. What can I do to recontion them? Becuase if its gonna look like this, I might as well buy another set of chrome pillars and put them back on

Maybe goo gone and a good polish with a PC or other buffer.

Do carbon fiber overlays. Looks closer to OEM.

detail them by using Goo Gone and a clay bar that will get rid of gashes if they are superficial then polish and buff them with a orbital buffer. I am pretty sure that will make them look much better unless you are a profectionist. Mines have some swirl marks on them but it doesn't bother me. I've used the carbon fiber pillars on my previous cars and I had problem with condensation and fading of the CF so no more aftermarket door pillars for me.

I don't know they are plastic, I had to polish the ones on my '05 at one point, since they were not clearcoat, but they are definitely painted, my polish cloth had black residue from that. Too bad Infiniti didn't clearcoat them too. You could always see about having them repainted.

Thread resurrection.

After cleaning my pillars of many blotches and bringing the from ugly to beautiful, somehow i have a scratch to the metal that wasnt there after i finished and has appeared two weeks later. (just buffed them with a microfiber pad and meguires quick wax(after washing of course), the pad was pretty black when i finished)

It is a pretty thin scratch, but my columns are not glossy black, shiney but no where near glossy. What can i do to hide/fix this scratch. Touch-up paint would stick-out like a sore thumb. Thanks in advance for any help!
