I recently painted my roof black, how long until I can add wax/polish to it? I heard you have to wait for the paint to cure. I've heard anything from a few days, to weeks, to months. Gurus chime in! I had my roof painted last Tuesday.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
New paint and wax....?
I've been told by bodyshops several times you should wait from 4 to 6 weeks.
I waited 6 weeks on my new front bumper, it was tough since I have zero
patience....
These are questions you should ask the body shop prior
to leaving....I did!

New paint, unless factory applied, needs to outgass. I am not a chemist, but certain chemicals in new paint need to be released over time in order to let the paint completely harden. Those chemicals cannot release if there is a sealant or wax over them, because the sealant/wax inhibits that release. I contacted Meguairs and was told that you shouldn't even use Ultimate Quick Detailer until the paint is 90 days old. I certainly understand the desire to put the stuff on now, but you have to ask yourself if you want nicely hardened paint after 3 months or if you want the immediate gratification of waxing now with the risk that your paint will swirl with the slightest touch, won't polish out as easily or as nicely, and will generally suck. Oh, by the way, you painted it BLACK, so I would be even more careful.

Above is correct. we work very closely with a body shop that does work for all the g's and z's around here and 90 days is the norm. Don't be impatient, it's NOT worth it.
