Pine Sap?????

Does anyone have a good solution for removing pine sap? I have no where to park in front of my house that isn't under pine trees. I had heard boiling hot water but that was a lot of work for little result. There have to be some good solutions...like goo gone, rubbing alcohol, turpentine etc. I'm hesitant to try many b/c of the paint. Turtle wax tar and sap remover doesn't do much.

Anyone have some first hand experience?

By the way, this is my first post, I bought an '05 G35x in Feb.

I had tree sap within the first 2 weeks of purchasing my G (I was PISSED!)... Unfortunately it etches into the clear coat and you are kinda screwed... I spent $200 having it wet sanded and buffed out.

Good luck.

My clar bar was able to reduce it alot. Then I had the bright idea to try to buff it out. Ended up with a burn mark.

I think if you are patient, you could clay it off. Takes time though.

If you mix up dawn dish soap with warm water and use it with a clay bar it seems to work well. I usually use it in a spray bottle. The dawn seems to cut through most bug, tar and sap well enough to let the clay take it right off. Just make sure you use enough soap to lubricate the clay bar well enough to where its not sticking to the car and leaving streaks. I usually spray the area and let it sit for a few minutes before claying. Then a good coat of wax as a follow up.

I tried rubbing alcohol (70%) and it took it right off. I made sure to do it in the sun so that it would evaporate quickly as not to hurt the clear coat. I also rinsed it thoroughly afterward. It looks great and was very easy.

Clay should work to remove the tree sap ^^^^^^but the best solution to
your issue is a couple good coats of wax. The first thing I do when buying a
new car is to get several coats of quality wax on the body. I use Zymol
concourse wax, bugs..sap..bird crap just wash off. Be very carefully what
to put on the painted surface of your car. Some of the recommendations here
from our members are crazy and will only damage your paint....

yea that turtle wax crap didnt do shiet cus I used it today. I have had my g for 3 years and I have never had a sap attack like now, my car was covered with that damn stuff. It took me forever to try to buff the sap off my car with a mf towel and now theres yellow stains all over my clearbra and clearcoat. Some of em are so stubborn the only way I could get some spots off is by picking it with my nail which I dont like to do. Yea does anyone know of something that actually works well ??

Stoners Tarmiator works good, smells like WD40. Also WD40 works also.

I used this 3M Adhesive Remover to debadge my trunk and found that it did a great job on removing tar from the lower panels and wheel wells. Pretty sure that tree sap would be no problem...be gentle.

Found this at Walmart for about $7, less than half-price on the 3M site...says it's safe for all automotove finishes. Would just suggest a light polish and wax afterwards. Worked much better than goo-gone.

I tried most of the recommendations here but nothing worked well. I took my car to a self wash place, the ones with the pressure wash. It removed everything with little effort and no need to use chemicals.

You didn’t have the kind of sap I had then. If it were that easy I don’t think anyone would discuss it. I had sap that was like glue hardened on my hood. Supposedly it was from a gum three (I don’t know what a gum tree is really, but if what I had is from a gum tree I advise never to park anywhere near one).
