have you guys ever seen this done to a G? the pictures look interesting but i'm wondering about the quality of material and installation of the metal trim. i've heard some kits are just glued on . . .

IMO the wood trim kits have too many wood pieces. If I used a quality wood kit it would only be for the center console and door handles. I also don't think its worth the price quoted on that website, not to mention that it doesn't show better pictures of the kit you're actually ordering.

All kits are "just glued on". How else would they be applied? They have 3M backing tape.

I've never personally seen these kits installed, but this site has a good reputation from what I've heard.

Well. I have seen a couple of cars with "added" wood trim, and they weren't very old, the trim was shrinking from the heat that builds up in the car, pulling away from the tape leaving it looking dirty there, I am very wary of any of these dash kits for that reason. Plus, the ones I have seen in person, are not hard like the factory wood, which is maple, I did see a console piece at japanparts.com, but it was for a Skyline, and had no heated seat switch cutouts, plus it was rather pricey!
