Interesting Solution...

Some of you probably know that I did the Zaino application on my red '04 coupe and got some strange "rubbing" results from what I thought might be the claybar. This weekend, I decided to "start over" by washing the car with Dawn, re-claying, and then moving forward. What I noticed was this:

Regardless of how much lubricant I used (water and Zaino wash), I still noticed some "rubbing" spots on the car. I'm not pressing hard with the clay either. I tried someone's suggestion of using Z6, but alas, the areas remained. Out of desperation, I pulled out a bottle of Turtle Wax Bug & Tar removal and viola! I let the solution sit on the area for about a minute, wiped it off with a microfiber towel and applied Z6. It looks great!

I think it must have been some residue left over from the clay that I could break off using just the Z5 wash or Z6. The bug and tar removal was just strong enough to kill the spots without hurting the paint!
