Any particular reason you are looking for a sponge? I prefer sheepskin mitts for washing.

Alot of people use sponges and seem to like them, they just aren't for me. A grout sponge from lowe's or HD are pretty popular on autopia.org

Get the Home depot one. But only the superiorbilt ones. Which they only sell in californias home depots. The QEP ones they sell aren't not as soft as the Superiorbilt ones.

I would stay as far away from a wash sponge as possible unless you are just going to use it on your wheels. A quality mit and drying towel will save you a ton of time buffing out swirls from poor quality products. I have gone through a couple mits and microfiber cloths. My favorite products would be the Ulti-mit and famous waffle weave drying towel.

Mit

Drying Towel

They are a couple bucks more than store bought stuff, but are much better in terms of clearcoat safe. Plus you save on tax and get 10% with the 10off350z coupon code. Check out Poorboys Super Slick car wash or Chemical Guys Citrus car wash, which is biodegradeable and can be used as a car wash in its diluted form or to strip away old wax and polish in concentrated form.

I got the Shmitt for wash and everything else. I read that dirt gets trap in the ulmitt and doesn't get release.

I have had good luck with the ulmitt and the cobra blue microfiber, the shmitt didn't appeal to me, but maybe I will give it a shot next order.

Grout sponges are nice, but they can't get into small areas without having to apply a lot of pressure, I prefer sheepskin mitts for washing, and only use grout sponges after polsihing when I'm washing off dust from the product.

i usually order the lambs wool wash mit in a 3 pack. each mit last at least 20 washes. the one i still am using has about 40 washes on it and is basically brand new. make sure you use a 2 bucket method for washing and invest in a couple of grit guards. you will be amazed at all the crap left on the bottom of the bucket.

I once made the mistake of washing my old Ford LTD with a grout-type sponge before I knew any better. It left swirl marks galore.

These things are rough and will scratch your finish bigtime. Use car-specific mitts!
