question about simoniz
question about simoniz
I have a question about the simoniz.. I am picking my car up tomorrow and had them put on the venture shield for $530 which they said will cover behind the door handles too..( is that a good deal) ... anyways.. Now the finance woman calls me and says they have a deal for $400 I can put on the simoniz.. so I have 3 questions:
1. are you supposed to put it on AFTER you put on the venture shield?
2. is the simoniz really worth it or just a way for them to make money?
3. is that a good deal on the price?

Simonize is a synthetic sealant which lasts up to 6 months. your basically paying to detail a new car. of the $400 your paying for the labor because simonize only costs $10.00 You can do the same if you go buy some mcguires or similar sealant and spending about 2-3 hours applying it.
you would never want to apply a sealant under the clear bra would not adhere to the car correctly and may peel off or discolor with the sun.
The $400 is a little high, like I said it's $10 in product and 2-3 hours of labor.. so basically your paying someone $150 an hour... when a detail shop would charge probably 1/2 that.
I'd suggest skipping the simonizing and doing yourself.
and yes $530 is a good deal on the full car clear bra... however I would suggest only getting it for the lower part of the bumper only and see if you can save 1/2 the cost. that's the only part that gets thrashed from road sand and debris. and besides I've seen a few cars that have the fender and hood done and they look terrible... the line is VERY noticable from even 20 feet away from the car.

Wow... lots of mis information in this thread. It will not hurt or cause a problem to use a sealer before the clear bra. Never has. If you going to clear bra the car then do the hood and fenders as well. They will be trashed if not. The lights should be done as well. Will keep the cheap plastic from discoloring and getting hazy.
That is a very good price if its for quality work. If they are using Venture Shield make sure its the ultra film. If not then pass and have it done at a shop that will use a current film.
A slight line in the hood and fender looks much better then tons of chips.
