On Zaino website and need help

so far I put these into my cart
Z-18 ClayBar
Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
Z-7 Show Car Wash
Zaino Custom Polish Applicator

I'm a little confused because they don't sell wax and I thought they did. Does this mean you don't need to wax your car, and the polishes act as a sort of wax? or I have to purchase another brand of wax in order to complete my car? I am new to detailing and have never waxed or polished a car before.. do you recommend I find an experienced person to help me the first time? Also what should I add or remove from my cart? thanks!

So far you've added:

Shampoo
Clay Bar
Sealant & Curing accelerator for the Sealant

Zaino does not offer a carnauba wax, you'd have to shop elsewhere to find one. Check out our selection of carnauba waxes, we offer a G35Driver discount as well. Is a sealant and wax necessary? No. The sealant will ensure you have underlying protection and the wax on top enhances the finish (more gloss and depth) as well as offers another layer of protection. I find it easier to maintain cars with a carnauba wax on top since it typically beads water better than sealants.

You also didn't select a polish, Zaino calls their sealants polishes for whatever reason. If you are looking for a polish to remove swirls, scratches and other imperfections in the paint, Zaino only offers one pure polish, their Z-PC. Many detailers will use the Menzerna line of polishes as they are some of the best available. Polishes are best applied with a quality buffer.

Other things to consider:
  • Some wash mitts - I personally use 3, two sheepskin mitts, one for upper panels and one for lower panels and front and rear bumpers. A third for wheels and tires, usually a Lake Country Ulti-Mit since it's more durable.
    Waffle
  • Weave Drying Towels - I'd recommend 2
  • Grit Guard Bucket Insert
  • Clay bar lubricant (unless you plan on using a spray bottle with some water and auto shampoo as clay lube). I use Poorboy's World Spray & Wipe. This product also works quite well for removing a layer of dusting or cleaning it while it's not overly contaminated.
  • Microfiber towels for removal. All our 16" x 16" towels are 25% off until the end of the month.
  • If you want to try a polish from Menzerna I'd highly recommend their PO106FF finishing polish.

That's a good start. You can also get into wheel & tire care, interior care, glass care, etc. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

George

Polishing will require another big investment. As George pointed out you'll need a good quality buffer. Take a look at your car, do you see spider webbing? Chances are with a silver car it won't be as noticable.

Adding a carnauba waxes over your zaino sealants will definitely give you extra depth and shine. This is however, all very subjective. It could be very different for every car. I found zaino to be lacking during overcast conditions sometimes, but the carnauba gave me that pop I wanted all the time.

Others argue you shouldnt stick anything else with zaino, an alternative would be the Z8 spray that is to be applied on top of Z2. I hear good things about it but I've never used it myself.

I usually do Z-5, then a few coats of Z-2. Been using Zaino for about 7 years on a variety of cars. I clay rarely, but it's good to clean things up nicely. I don't ZFX either anymore, but have in the past. Not essential in my book.

If you're lazy, I wouldn't go with Zaino...takes time to do layer correctly for optimal viewing pleasure. Just my opinion...

Zaino is a polymer

no need for wax. i dont use their clay kinda expensive i use the clay they use on boats

i usually do 2 Z-5 and 2 Z-2 cuz all you can do is 3 layers in 24 hrs use that last layer so i dont lose any product too lazy to measure stuff out

any order comes w/ 1 applicator so if you want another one keep it if not delete

i dont use their soap either, a guy that introduce me to zaino just uses water and a towel. i use zip wash or w/e its called cuz i like the sudsy feeling

zaino applies easier and comes off easier than wax...... all you really need is Z2 i do the other stuff for kicks like Z-8

tip... use their instructions and remember apply thinnest layer possible

FMJ Sealant is an extremely easy product to use, perhaps you should pick up some of that.

Ok, that makes more sense. If you just want to go the easy route, head to Target and get some Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0. It's pretty damn good wax for an over the counter product. Goes on insanely easy and come off just as nice. Very slick and a great shine too. You'll probably need to re-apply it every month or so depending on your cleaning habits.

I'm still confused about one thing.. do I need to use any sort of laundry detergent or w/e you guys use to remove the wax before applying new wax? or do I just apply more wax over the car after I wash it? Thanks for all the help guys.. I'm just scared I'll mess something up

If the guy has already claimed he is lazy, why would you recommend applying a wax that is no where near as durable as a sealant? I don't see how that's the easy route when you've got to apply it MUCH more often than a sealant.
