Need some opinions on getting car detailed
ok, here it goes...i had my car parked in the parking garage at work, and after a long 12.5 hours of work, i come out to see that some stuff had leaked from the ceiling onto my rear bumper and dripped down...ok, i thought it was just dirty water or something, so i drove home. the next day, i wash my car and to my surprise, the stuff is not coming off the car, even after scrubbing at it...so i figure its some kind of cement or mineral accumulations from the garage dripping down with the water..i come to find out that its the lime from the garage structure...surely it will take a buffing to take this stuff off, so i get in touch with security and tell them wat happend, they looked at my car and told me to take it to this car detailing place a few blocks away, and that they will pay for my whole exterior to be detailed. now, my question is, is it a bad idea to get a brand new car (build date was october 03) detailed? i'm afraid the paint isnt fully cured...also, my paint has almost no imperfections on it besides that lime crap on the rear bumper, should i just have them remove the lime or redo the whole car? now this shop is in Greenwich, CT, and they only deal with high end cars(mercedes, porsche, ferraris, bimmers, etc.) and numerous people have told me that their work is top-notch, so should i just get my whole car done (for free!!!)?

Re: Need some opinions on getting car detailed
I'd get them to clean that one spot, and then maybe Zaino the whole car... like get a good paint sealant (full Zaino process, or CrystalGuard etc.) put on...

The garage drippings are lime deposits that form on the concrete. They are difficult to remove. The car has to be lightly compounded to remove. DEF. have it professionally done.

Paint is cured (baked) from factory; you can polish/wax day you get it. I would ask detail shop how they plan to attack lime deposit and what experience they've had doing it. If they can do it, go for it.
Re: Need some opinions on getting car detailed
i had that same thing happen to my old car in my apt garage. it ended up getting buffed out. when i picked up my g, they sprayed some coating on it to protect it from the environment and what not. the same water dropped onto my g after a few days of rain. when i saw it on my hood, i got pretty heated. but with a little bit of water to absorb into the dried residue, it pretty much wiped off. i didn't wipe it off fully because i didn't want to make any swirls/scratches on my car. it all came off after i wiped down the grill. after driving it through the rain the other day, there's nothing left on my hood.
whatever you do to get it off, after that..i suggest you put something on your car to protect it from future occurances. see if the company will pay for them to coat your car with a paint protectant care product.
