If it were a vinyl stipe tape, body shops use an eraser wheel to remove them... works great! but you can 'burn' the finish if you go to fast, low RPM works the best...

Sounds like it is painted stripe anyway, so like Simpson said several times... wetsand and buff...

OR

use that stripe as a line to 2-tone the whole car!

Okay, the car was at the bodyshop for 2 days, and they were able to remove the stripe.

The red color in the stripe did bleed through to the clear, but they were able to get 99% of it out.

I'm very happy with the work the bodyshop did, and the car looks 100X better now. Thanks everyone for the comments.

Last a crappy pic of the pinstripe that was put on the car.

Thanks!

They tried a bunch of chemicals, but the stripe was too thick.

They just wetsanded and polished it down, but it took 2 days because one of the pigments in the red paint had bonded in with the clear.

The pinstripe is actually painted, its not the cheap tape that can be peeled right off.

Does anyone have experience with removing a painted on pinstripe, I know I will need to go to a bodyshop, but I want to see if anyone has had it done without a problem. If its going to ruin the paint I will keep it.
My Car also had a painted stripe. Dealer wanted $450 for the painted stripe. I said H3LL no and they had it removed. The guy who put it on took it off with a chemical, no appearant damage, no buffing, and the dealer got credit from the painter to apply to another car if wanted. All was good. Ask the guy who put it on to remove it.
