Engine Cleaning

WHat is the best way to clean a modified engine bay? The engine contains electrical wiring, turbos, etc. Do I use a hose. Or should I just try to wipe it down. Be warned the engine bay is very dirty..

Thanks

You wrap all the connectors with either foil or saran wrap and including the air intake plus alternator and battery. You know there's an engine detail thread in the DIY forums.

yeah I saw that, but I read it as though he was referring to stock engines.

I've never done a modded engine, but I would assume its the same principal...wrap everything that could be damaged by direct water contact. I wrap with wax paper, and tape off even where needed. Then just wipe down those wrapped areas after the wash.

Scrooge couldn't there be some issues with wrapping a battery/electricals with foil???

I was just refer to if he use either saran wrap or foil. You could remove the battery from the vehicle and clean it with baking soda mix with water.
