paint problem

I have the twilight blue and I just did a polish and wax (by hand not with a buffer) trying to get out these spots in the paint and it did not work. It looks like water spots but smaller and in tighter groups that make the paint look lighter then the rest of the car. I tried taking pics of it but even my SLR had a problem picking them up as the reflection is creating a glare on the lens. It is only on the hood and roof. Any one know what this is. Sorry, without pics its really hard to describe so I hope this makes sense.

Thanks all.

Have you tried clay baring the car after a wash yet?

Do you have a filter that you could put on the camera lens to filter out the glare?
Perhaps snapping a few pics later in the afternoon or early evening would help.

We need pics!!!!!

I too have a TB sedan and its a pain in the a$$ to keep it nice. Sometimes the paint looks lighter on the roof but I think its just the reflection of the sun.

On an overcast day, I don't notice it at all.

Maybe you should post this in the detailing section as well....

Try using a polarized lens. This would reduce the glare.

I have not tried the clay bar yet. I have never use it and am unfamiliar with it. Sorry it took so long to reply as my wireless has been down for quite some time. Here is as good of a pic I could get. The first pic just barley shows what I am talking about (the light grey circular blurs is what I am talking about) You can tell it is the clear coat and not the paint as you can only see the spots at certain angles. The second pic I was just messing around with the SLR and showing off the metallic flakes.

Looks like tiny rock chips. My front end is full of them. Infiniti paint is worse than any other manufacturer I have owned. I did a machine buff and polish and it helped a little bit, but I really need to repaint.

It's not the chips I am talking about it is the grey circles that almost look like water spots.

Is the surface rough, if it is you could be looking at some acid rain damage. or something else that ate the clear coat. A clay bar or a nice cleaner wax could help with the problem. Better pictures would help.

I can't really see from your pictures, but your description sounds just like a problem I have on my hood and section between the sunroof and windshield. It is only on the drivers side. It appears that the clearcoat is gone and the paint underneath looks "crackeled". I'm having Infiniti look at it next week or so, but I feel certain they will say it is not their problem... we'll see.

Here's some pics ... the colored dot in the first one is some sort of glare. They are of the same spot, but at different angles.

Looks like etched bugs/droppings to me. I would suggest using a clay bar for removal.
