Someone scratched my car...

Hey guys.

I just noticed a FAT scratch and scuff on my right front bumper. I have attached pics.

So far I rinsed that area, and used some car soap and microfiber towel and tried to buff that area. Some white paint ( dont know if it is paint) came off. I do have touch up paint given to me when i purchased the car. What should I do to make the scratch go away...

Thanks guys..i really appreciate it.

if its paint transfer and the white is ontop of your paint. Get a reputable detailer and have him buff that location and the whole car.

sux man! could be worse

1. Looks like you have to repaint bumper imo.
2. you need new tires.

Not sure, but I would recommend going to a reputable place so that they can match the factory finish/texture and provide a durable finish. If you get crap work done, it will look hazy and "air" will cause chips.

The good thing is that black is essentially a 99.999% color match on any panel you choose to paint--no blending needed.

As for your tires, the outer edge looks a little bare, so a tire inspection at discount tire is in order and an alignment check somewhere too.

Same thing happened to me today, at the same location of the bumper. I'm not sure if some hater was pushing a shopping cart around, or was it a careless gardener at my work parking lot. But anyways, mine was more of a scratch than scuff like yours. I was able to buff out most of it, but there's a still a long indent on the paint. Really Pissed me off!!!

If the scuffs are not too deep, you can get it wetsanded, compounded and polished by rotary buffer. If they are pretty deep, you will need to apply touch up paint first and followed by the above process.

Yea, i looks like it can go either way.... Try buffing it out with some rubbing compound by hand.... If you have access to a rotary, give that a try with a cutting pad and some compound, then work your way to less aggressive polishes and wax when done.... Compound has done wonders on scratches and scuffs that i would never think would come out, but yea, with how yours looks, you can probably get 75% of it out, but it'll never be perfect so you might want to paint it if you can't live with it..... but definitely try to buff it out first

Ahh ic. Thanks for your help guys. I guess I will go get some rubber compound (any brands you guys recommend?, i dont want it to be expensive). You think i could find it at walmart?

Should i just put some rubber compound on a microfiber towel and just work it into the scratches?

Do i have to rinse it off or whatever? Do i need to rinse that area before putting the rubber compound on?

Sorry, I am new at this

I love the g35 community, you guys are so helpful!

Similar to above said. I usually use turtle wax rubbing compound (red label), then clean it off with some water and dry. Then buff it with meguair's deep crystal polish (repeat couple times), finally some wax. Base on your pics, I'm 85% sure you can get most of it out.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to get it off/out by hand. Rubbing compounds and Black cars don't mix well by hand. Without experience you are sure to make lots of swirls and dull the finish badly (by hand or rotary).
Find a reputable detailer in your area. If it's going to come clean (which it looks like it may) then it should be something they can do in about 30 minutes so it shouldn't cost you to much.
My 2cents.

Can you feel the scratches with your nail? If not, that will easily come out by polishing. If so, you can greatly minimize the look by polishing. At the risk of sounding like I am pushing Meguiar's Scratch-X (I'm not), you could try that to greatly diminish or remove at least the paint transfer (available at walmart). Then you can decide later if you want to spend the money to paint it. Otherwise, take it to a quality detailer and have them work on that spot only (unless you want the whole car detailed).

I just bought turtle wax premium grade Rubbing compound. Should i return this and get scratchx?

Do you think the rubbing compopund would work on the scratch? Would I have to rewax it after?

O btw, I am only going to be using hand strength with a microfiber towel...no machine.

Should i just get the scratch x?
