What do you guys think...
For my black G that seems to have problems with SWIRLS EVERYWHERE I bought the following and i'm going to apply in the following steps...
Menzerna Intensive polish (in a few problem areas)
Menzerna Final Polsih
Z-PC
Z-5
Z-2
Then Finally Z-8
And of course the car will be washed with Dawn initially and following that it will be completely clayed..
Comments and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Should I use Micro Fiber applicator pads? Or the pads that come with Zaino?
Brian
Has anyone had any experiences good/bad with Menzerna? I have used Zaino about 3 years ago on my acura and really enjoyed it...

Menzerna's polishes are great, although a bit finicky to work with at times... What buffer and pads will you be using to apply them??? And as you already know, Zaino is by far one of the best care systems on the market... As with any black car, you will want to be as thorough on the polishing process as you can, as Zaino is excellent at showcasing the condition/gloss of the paint (including swirls)...
Work the IP with an orange pad and with your PC between 3.5-4. Work in small sections and allow the polish to completely break down. Follow up with your FP applied with a white pad and proceed with your Zaino process. I use microfiber applicators for my FMJ and sealants, but the meguiars yellow foam pads work as well.

I was going to just bust my A** and do it by hand.. is that not recomended?
I only have a crappy orbital and I would kind of hate to use that on the car...

by hand??? sorry, bro... i dont think you will get good, even results that way (by hand you wont be able to generate enough heat/friction to break down the abrasives in polishes)... maybe you can get away with applying FPII by hand, but i think you might cause more marring/swirls by applying IP by hand... if you can, invest in a PC 7424, you can find them for around $110 and it will make your work MUCH easier... it's an easy tool to use and it is very durable... go to autopia.org and read the forums... they are a wealth of information in detailing, with advice from some of the best detailers in the world... perhaps you can find some advice/info on applying polishers by hand... i know griots makes a hand polisher but i've never tried it...

Menzerna polishes are the best I've used, but you'll definitely need a good orbital polisher (PC, Flex, etc) to get the results you want. Buying a PC is a little bit of cost up front, but it will more than pay for itself down the road, especially since your G is BO.

George @ DetailedImage has a great starter kit that contains everything you'd need. I believe his 10% discount for G35Driver members applies to these kits as well. Don't worry about damaging your paint with the PC as it's virtually impossible. Random orbital buffers are pretty much fool proof. Good luck.

^^^ Exactly, you can find refurbished ones for slightly less, but going with George gets you grade A products AND customer service. You can use some solid glazes and waxes with fillers to minimize your swirls, but you will have an extremely difficult time removing them by hand or getting the polishes to breakdown the way they are intended. Get the Porter Cable, a couple orange and white pads. I still like applying waxes and sealants by hand, but you can pick up a grey pad if you want. Well work the investment.
If you are committed to going the hand route, the Menzerna polishes may not be your best choice. Ultima Products may be a good option.
