Have a look at this. It's easy.

You can and should do it whenever you want to. It removes contaminants that are stuck in the paint. Run your hand along the hood of your car. If it feels rough at all, clay it. After claying it will be super silky smooth because you removed all the stuff stuck in it. I wouldn't do it in temps under 50 degrees F because it may cause some marring due to the inability of the clay to completely soften. Others may disagree.

Use it as often as you want to, but remember it will remove whatever wax and protectant you had on your vehicle and you will have to reapply your favoriate wax/sealant.

I use it almost every time I wax, I spray the car little by little with quick detailer from Meguiars and I work it in with the clay bar. Once the whole car is done, I go over it again with wax.

Can't recommend these enough. Really great at removing stuff that normally is real hard to get off.

Have you ever washed Play*Doh? It is clay so it can't be washed. You can roll it into a ball and knead it around so that you get a "clean" area, but once it is completely contaminated, that is it. You can get a lot of use out of one clay bar. And don't ever drop it on the ground. If you do, toss it out - unless you want to drag a small rock or some other abrasive along your paint. I usually cut or separate a clay bar into 1/2 or 1/3 pieces in case I drop it.

+1000 there.

I think I am using the Meguirs kit, and they say the clay bar is good for about 3 cars.

Always much easier to cut it smaller and never have to think about it,

You don't need to rewash. Just wipe the quick detailer or clay lube off and polish/wax. Of course, no one says you can't wash it again. I don't.

I Use palmolive dish soap as a lubricant with the claybar..this will remove the old wax and leaves a clean canvas for the new wax.
