Anyone...

This morning on the way into work (5:15am) I was trying to pass a dump truck that was going ~70mph on an open highway with a 65mph speed limit. I accelerated to 80 (the road was 100% empty in both directions minus the dump truck) so I decided to get around this monster so that my car would not become a rock canvas. Well it happened...

The 6 ton monster nailed a fresh armadillo and there were guts, blood and body parts heading in all directions. I saw a huge armadillo steak coming directly towards me. A large chunk of flesh and blood landed directly on my windshield and fortunately it then "flew off" over the roof of my car. As soon as I got to work I inspected my car. To my concern, there was blood splatters and guts all over the front of my car (thank GOD for clear bra's). I grabbed a 100% cotton wash cloth out of my trunk, went into the restroom and rinsed the cloth with warm water. I went back out to my car and began gently wiping off the blood, guts, and small pieces (trying not to swirl any paint in the pitch black morning sky).

The question... Is this warm water enough to completely remove the fresh blood and guts? Will the blood/guts mess up my paint? I can not leave work early today, and had planned on doing the Dawn, clay bar, Zaino treatment tomorrow anyway (it's been 4 months). Is my car o.k. until tomorrow morning?

Someone, please help!!! Mod’s please don’t move this post to the detailing forum until this evening, if you decide to move it at all. I really need the exposure incase I need to do something immediately with my dearest “red rocket”. TIA

neffster, I am glad you were not the one hitting the armadillo cuz otherwise you probably would be looking to replace the front bumper. Is your car staying in the shade?? The sun tends to do more damage if substances are left exposed to the sun. Also, if there is a self service carwash around maybe you could go there at lunch time and spray the car with high pressure water to get off any armadillo remains. In any event, I am not an expert but I think you will be fine.

 

Hey Neff, are you a South Park fan? The "Red rocket" episode? Are you sure about naming your car that?

I have to agree, "red rocket" references what is perhaps the most disturbing thing I have ever seen on TV, even though it WAS funny.

easy guys, my 3 year old daughter coined the term "red rocket" when she saw the space shuttle going up (from our front yard) and asked how fast it was going. The wife made a comment about "it was as fast as daddy drives his car"... Plus she had heard my wife use that term to describe her old college car (a red ford escort). Hence, the G became known as the red rocket.

Well ....you are very lucky!
The Ph level of armadillo blood/guts is 3.2....which is not very caustic to G paint.
Now...if you ever hit a wino........get it cleaned off immediately as the acid level will etch badly.
