tinting problem =(

just had my new g35 coupe tinted and on the back window towards the top part the tint didnt stick to the glass because of the raised dot matrix. the area now gives off a silverish color reflecting the sun during the day. the tinter told me thats the way its gonna be but i have heard otherwise. is there another way to do it so the tint will stick to the glass and make it look evenly black? btw how much are people generally paying to tint their coupes in the la area? thanks for replying

Not much you can do about that but use your thumb and try and rub as much air out as possible during the 3 day drying time. Some people have put black vinyl over that spot and put the tint over that.

I think it's ridiculous that a good tint shop would put tint over the dot pattern, it always looks like crap, one place around here, would just tint up to the dots, when they were as large as the coupe's anyway, leave them untinted, looked much cleaner IMO! I saw a post on StangNet a while back that guys were saying they had that area painted black on the Mustang coupe, same could be done with the G!

Re: tinting problem =(

there was a thread about this. Seems li ke most people have this problem. That the tint leaves a space because of the texture of the de-frost lines and the antenna. it leaves a space between the window and the lines. You can't help it, that's how it is.

I would have to disagree with those that say you can't tint over the dot matrix. I just had my car tinted 2 weeks ago with 35% Llumar Platinum Plus. Attached is an inside shot of my rear window. There are no bubbles and the tint adhered perfectly to the dot matrix.

I had mine tinted over the dot matrix, and didn't have a problem. However, you can have them shave off the matrix.....
